It is a common place today seeing Christians live a life that is diametrically at variance with the teachings of the Bible. I have met alot of people with genuine desire to live right but gets disappointed midway. They make an effort today and then go back to sin, Hence the saying "the Spirit is willing but the flesh is weak." But is this excuse justifiable? How can we discipline our flesh to make it do what is acceptable by God? It is Imperative to know that Man is a spirit, he has a soul and he lives in a body. When a person gets born again, his spirit gets recreated, but the previous information and habits residing in his mind remains unchanged. So his flesh may continue business as usual since the flesh only does what the (unsaved) mind tells it to do. This is why you see some Christians not any different from the world, their mind has not be renewed. They still think and act the way of the world. But this is a bad way to live, as Christians our lives are supposed to be a replica of that of Jesus. Romans 12:2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind...! God has given us His word to live by and embedded in the word lies the Spirit for our transformation. We are expected to indoctrinate our mind daily with the teachings of Christ and the knowledge of His will, Until we begin acting like Jesus subconsciously and effortlessly. Psalm 119:9 (NIV) How can a young person stay on the path of purity? By living according to your word. You cannot live the Christian life without the word of God. Just like a fish can't survive in water, so also it's impossible to survive without the word. we were born again by the word (1 Peter 1:23), so the word is like air to the believer and our success in life depends on His promises. Prayer: Thank you Jesus for giving us your word to live by. In it I find strength, wisdom to live a successful life. As I meditate daily,I become more like you in health, riches and righteousness.
