ok for the core linux enthusiasts out there, which package manager do you prefer: rpm or deb and thus do you prefer rpm-based distros or deb-based distros
pls posts your opinions

well having not used a rpm based distro at all, at least not more than a day (that being fedora), i wouldnt know.

but batting blind, id say debian. that is a very stable sound package management system, rock solid, what would redhat's have over it?

and are u thinking of starting ur own distro? grin grin grin grin grin grin grin

dont think rpm's terms of use would be ore comfy than debians'. .deb distros rather out number .rpms

@4llerbe about the .debs outnumbering the .rpms i'm not quite so sure - ok maybe you're right though ill say most of them came are based on ubuntu; however if you look at the distros that are used in the enterprise , most of them are rpm based; distros like redhat, suse are more popular on the enterprise than debian, ubuntu etc.
But on a personal note i prefer .debs myself, ive notied that when i'm updating my packages, .deb distros download all the packages before installing while rpm download and install alternately - very annoying on this not so fast connection
