Another melodrama occurred in the Kidnapping scenes in Niger State as kidnappers donated ₦10,000 out of ₦1.7 million Ransom to Five victims of last Thursday kidnapped in Avu of Gupa – Abugi community in Lapai Local government of Niger state
It could be recalled that Niger State Government has taken over print and broadcast stations in reporting kidnapped and banditry cases but on Sunday by 1 am, the notorious kidnappers decided to add comic relief to the Kidnapping scenes as five victims regained their freedom after paying N1.7 million ransom.

A victim who narrated his ordeal to our reporter explained that they were accompanied by the kidnappers to the backyard of their village and were set free at around 1 am, saying that they were taken across river gurara into Kogi state before they negotiated with their families.

He added that the criminals gave them from the ransom collected a sum of N10,000 to enable them to buy slippers for themselves as they were released to join their families.

He also lamented that they were kept in a cave throughout their abduction after walking for hours throughout that night of the incident and guarded strictly in the captivity.

Meanwhile, last Thursday a number of gunmen stroked Avu in the community Gupa- Abugi ward of Lapai local government area of Niger state where 5 persons were abducted and one person was killed by the gunmen.

The attackers according to the source stormed the village in their numbers attacked the community in the early hour of Thursday (1 am) and opened fire on a large number of people who were scampering for safety upon seeing them.
Narrating, a member of the village Idris Musa Avu while narrating the incident said ” the gunmen arrived the village around 1:00 am, in large number and upon seeing them, people were scampering for safety as they were shooting sporadically, one person was killed and six people were kidnapped”.

Musa added that the vigilantes upon seeing the situation tried their best but could not get police back up as at the time of the attack.
