All these quota system billionaires lacks creativity and foresight. You didn't build refineries in the 1970's, 80's, 90's or even early 2000's but now that fuel cars are being phased out and renewable energy is gaining massive boost globally, that is when the craze for refinery got into their head!

You're talking about AFcta but you forgot that heavily subsidized refineries built all over the middle East, Asia and developed world will equally channel their excess capacity to Africa. How can they compete?

Why can't they spend these monies in building power plants considering that Nigeria has a massive deficit in it?

Quarter system billionaires indeed!

Oga,

Oil is here to stay. China and India construct three coal plants monthly and still purchase large quantities of crude oil to supply their power plants. Africa is yet to be developed and will seek to use the cheapest forms of energies which are fossils. In fact, apart from transportation, it's hard to replace oil across other areas. Which renewable will replace plastics! Fertilisers? Detergents? Chemicals?

Oil is not going anywhere.

The cement cartel in Nigeria is reaping the masses.

Now talk to the dealers, you discover they are just servants and errands men to these manufacturers. They made so much noise about stopping cement importation, making the product cheaper, conserving foreign exchange and backward integration and all those jargon.

Only Goodluck Jonathan in the history of Nigeria once regulated the price of cement. That is how to identify a man whose govt is empathetic to the sufferings of the populace.

Even their refinery projects do not trip me. A hardened capitalist can never benefit the buying masses.

Exactly
They still run on government patronage
And the government will not protect the Masse's

No way for monopoly. Good of you rabiu always giving dangote a chase!

Anyone who controls the largest market share controls the prices of the goods. He has over 60% market share in Nigeria cement market and is like to repeat same in fuel refineries.

Gandote controls the price of cement in Nigeria.

And the administrators of this country are not wise.

Why will you ban cement importation beyond 15 years, when imported cement could sell at N1,500 but the local manufacturers are selling at N3,000 ?

You are just punishing the masses to favor a few.

The cost of manufacturing one bag of cement is not more than N1300. Let competition decide the prices of goods in this country. They have enjoyed more than 15 years of import ban and many years of tax waivers to solidify their manufacturing lines and recoup investments. FG break the cement monopoly.

Now that they have enough to diversify into refineries, cement should not sell above N1500 in Nigeria. Ask China.

It is just a matter of time. Time was when coal held sway. In a few years time industry will be penaliaed for coal use and the price will continually sink. Oil will invariably follow. Right now gas is the main thing. Petroleum gas will go before natural gas then water and air will finally be the fuel left.

By the way plastics are viewed as an environmental threat as well. By the way fertilizers are gas based products not oil based, chemicals? are made of a diverse number of source elements.

Clean and renewable energy is the future

Which demand is plummeting? Oil's price has increased because countries are lifting the lockdowns. Africa - home to the fastest growing population - which is largely uneletricified will need crude oil not solar to supply electricity to large number of people at affordable rates. Something renewables CANNOT do. You people like to think crude oil is all about transportation.

After some idiots here will start supporting politicians because of small change Godforbid bad thing especially that bastard with GRILLS attached to his moniker. Shey fuel price go soon rise make we see if them go give you special rate .

I'm telling u, Nigeria billionaires are so dull, Africa is the only continent where the richest man is not into tech.

Africa is the ONLY undeveloped continent where the basics of life are yet to be seen and made available to everyone. To become a billionaire in Africa is by solving the problems of the continent which are not tech powered but basics things like food, clothing, schooling, electricity, cheap cars etc. Europe and America have solved their basic necessities so therefore, one shouldn't expect to be billionaire just by going into refining. You people like to Americanise your problems.

Dangote and BUA refineries are good developments for Nigeria. I would have preferred these be situated in other states that have coastline such as Ogun, Ondo, Cross River or Akwa Ibom. However, I have a honest question, Lagos as it is presently is overcrowded. Thanks to the population explosion because of economic opportunity.

? Because as these things progress, it will become almost impossible to live sanely in Lagos State.

Bua is constructing her refinery in the bold.

He is complaining about the rising cost of Cement. I thought he is the Chairman and C.E.O. of BUA Cement. He can do something about it.

Knock the price down. Sell your cement at N1,500 and pull the rug under Dangote feet. N3,000 is an artificial, greedy, fixed price. Price set by monopolists.

By the way, BUA and Dangote are building their huge refineries in Lagos. Why concentrate everthing in Lagos.

Lagos has been taken oo
... I have said it before, Lagos is the main reason Nigeria will never break up. Hausa/Fulani will never allow it.

I am however for One Nigeria. But there is need to diversify investments to other parts of the country.

Akwa Ibom near Ibeno - where ExxonMobil have her operations.

The bolded is false. Which Globally. Even in Europe, Electric cars are still under 5% of all cars sold. Their business forsight is correct. Both refineries will recoup their investments within 10 to 15 years of full functional capacity.

It might a good 20 to 25 years before Electric cars become the norm in Africa. I however agree with your point that they should invest in power plants too.

50 years. The vast vast majority of African countries don't have a grid let alone a functioning one. For electric cars to be utilised in Africa, the vast majority of Africans should have attained middle income status. Common ethanol isn't even used in cars notwithstanding the availability of corn, sugar and cassava na electric cars Africans going begin dey use?

You might as well write that government should go into telecoms, electricity generation and all. What did the average Nigerian benefit from NITEL? NEPA? Nigerian Airways? Why then do you think same governments should run a refinery?

In developed countries where the population is fast declining not in China, Vietnam, India who are building new coal plants every month. Then, it's Sub-Saharan Africa whose population is the fastest growing that will penalise crude oil production and uses? In China and India, coal still accounts for more than 50% of energy use not solar or wind. In Germany, after shutting down nuclear plants because of misinformation regarding Fukushima, she resorted to coal. Same thing happened to Japan. Then, it's Africa that will penalise the petroleum industry?

Regarding plastics, again, it's in developed countries where such penalties will occur not Africa that's looking for cheap plastics to grow its economy. Fossils aren't going anywhere.

WHY NOT INVEST IN LAGOS LANDS?
Property investment is a priority for every visionaries, it goes beyond immediate gains to solving generational challenges.

Today we are talking about investing in a location that is 100% guaranteed on returns on investment with a 50% capital growth on the 4th week of initiation of investment.

Can we remember the cost of a plot of land in Lekki phase1, 2 & Ikate some years back? Can you compare with today’s price? Land appreciation is Unbeatable.

oIL IS not going anywhere, no doubt.

But the price will surly plummet in the future.

because cars/vehicler consumption are the major drivers of the product.

Once the whites create their anti crude polices ti will surly tank.

Trump played an important role keeping the price afloat, because he refused to be part of the green watever.
