Out of curiosity ,I just want to know why the names on wedding invitations are arranged in such order.

Can anyone please explain

You all know what I'm talking about don't you?...you get a wedding invite and you see the lady's name coming first i:e Titilayo weds Adekunle when it is Kunle that is getting married to the lady even when we all know that it is the guy that woos the lady and proposes.

What will happen if someguy changes that trend and puts his name first? i dont think anyone who comes to the wedding will be so vicious and small-minded as to say nasty things about the order of your names on invitations and favors!

The traditional way is one way of doing things but it isn’t the only way and there’s nothing tacky or crass about doing things differently. Putting the names in a non-traditional order is NOT on par with demanding that guests bring you extravagant gifts, or pay for their own meals or whatever.

Well many people may wonder why I'm asking this funny question but I'm just wandering if there is a logical reason why it is so...is it just the tradition or a trend that people have come to accept?

It is because the bride is getting wedded to the groom

During proposal, the man asks the lady "will you marry me?" which she replies "yes I will marry you" .....many believes its the lady that's agreed to marry the man.

So that's why on many wedding IV you will see "sisi comfort weds broda sodiq"

Traditionally, in the Western culture, it was the bride's parents job to host their daughter's wedding so it was expected that the bride's name come first.
However, it stuck, just like most things of the same nature. These days, the bride's name just comes first regardless of who sponsors the wedding

Same way if you ask an okada man to carry you, he will be in front and you at the back. You ask, and he agrees. You propose, and she accept. So yes, her name has to come before yours.

Now, this got me wondering. All those women that asked their husband hand in marriage, does it mean the man name will come first? Who get answer?

Because it is female that granted male request of wanting to marry them. A man can only propose to marry a lady so the lady is the solely determinant of whether the marriage should occur or not that's the reason why females weds the males because she agreed to his 'just' proposal.
