Journalism is dead in Nigeria. Why should they allow culprits to always explain how they commit crimes?
In 70s an arm robber was caught in US and there was a debate about whether to release the statement of how he carried out the act. After releasing it to public in that year alone about 100 similar cases were reported as a result of the knowledge he transmitted to his follow robbers.

I use access bank. The man said you’d see date of birth there. And I didn’t see my dob with my bvn

You don't get it, your date of birth can be gotten from your phone likewise your bvn, cos it is stored there. But will be harder without the phone.

Note: well, seems many people don't get this little tricks of the amateur riff-raff. I won't explain further so as not to teach or enlighten some upcoming thieves.

Bottom line, have simlock on your simcards and don't carry about atm cards you have much money on.

cool

[*DUE TO THE PROLIFERATION OF "SMART" SCAMMERS PROWLING SOCIAL MEDIA IT IS IMPERATIVE TO ONCE AGAIN ADVICE ALL TO PROTECT YOUR BANK ACCOUNT*

_IF YOU DO MOBILE BANKING from your phone, there is need to put a PIN on your SIM, otherwise your account can be wiped clean anytime you lose your phone_ _or your phone is stolen_ .

The process to do is very simple but if ignored can cost you all Your life savings.
For those who don't know about it yet, just follow this simple steps to protect hacking of Your bank account through SIM THEFT.
1. Go to SETTINGS in Your phone.
2. Go to SECURITY & LOCATION under SETTINGS
3. Go to SIM CARD LOCK.
4. Click on LOCK SIM CARD.
5. Enter Your mobile network default SIM CARD PIN.
*For MTN users it is "00000". *For AIRTEL users it is "1111".
*For 9mobile users it is "0000"
* For GLO users, it is "0000"
6. After entering the MOBILE NETWORK DEFAULT PIN, under it You will see " CHANGE SIM PIN", click on it to change to Your unique 4 digit pin,
7. Confirm Your unique 4 digit pin by entering it again & YOU ARE DONE .
So anytime You "On" Your phone You will be prompted to enter Your SIM CARD PIN just as You will be prompted to enter Your phone lock PIN or Draw Your PATTERN each time You "START" (ON) Your phone.
With the ACTIVATION OF SIM LOCK on Your phone, Your money can never be withdrawn from Your bank account through your SIM because Your SIM will be useless in their hands since it is blocked and You will not be under tension to go and block or retrieve Your stolen SIM.
Please kindly share this information with Your loved ones because the rate of phone theft these days are alarming as they (phone thieves) are not just after the phone but SIM CARDS linked to Your bank account.

_Please let's be safe!!!_ author=jaybenugo post=99459136]A suspected local yahoo boy who was arrested by the police has revealed how he transfers money from people's bank account using just his victim's SIM and Bank Verification Number (BVN), IgbereTV reports.

Speaking in Yoruba, the suspect while being interrogated, said he uses the bank codes on any sim card that receives bank alerts to transfer money to another account which he has access to. He also mentioned that he takes loans from the banks of any sim card he lays his hands on

You will be shocked that even the policemen interrogating him are calculating how they would also benefit from the knowledge of this guy.

If he ends up behind the counter or in jail he would be treated well by them in exchange for this expertise assuming they arrest people and before throwing them in jail they hand over the phones.

Police is not your friend here o

But why didn’t he transfer this intelligence to Agriculture, business or hand work?

Or even producing free Electricity

Once it becomes a viable means of survival, it turns to a job. Why do you think Evans collects millions from abduction ransoms, and still wouldn't call it quits? Or use that money to make tangible investments. Why do you think Yahoo boys make a lot of money but still fail to invest or give up their fraudulent ways? Why do you think people dress up and go to bet shops and stay there all day? It graduates from means of survival to jobs.

Yahoo boys don't start so they can eat, they start so that they can live an abundant life. This is why there are levels to the "game" They start at the bottom with little but the goal is always the same - to make it big time? Their dream is not to survive but to thrive. It has nothing to do with the economy. What was the economy like when Fred Ajuduah ( sic) started the ball rolling way back in the 80's with the naira at less than 20:1? Why has it kept growing even the economy was doing 9% yy-yy growth under Yaradua? The answer is that everyone has their chosen way to get to the top. Yahoo is a deliberate choice. Let's remove survival from it.

In as much as we have never and will never condone any act of crime and fraud anywhere we see one (one of the reasons the fraudsters on Nairaland don't like seeing our posts).
We acknowledge the fact that there are inherently criminally-minded people in our society, this guy's case seems more of the result of a failed system.

Judging from the passion at which he describes his abilities, you can see that the reason he is into this activity is beyond just the money he gets from it but also the satisfaction that comes with each successful task he carries out.

Towards the end of the video, he got so engrossed and carried away in the conversation that his tone changed from finding pity to flexing his intellectual prowess. at that point, he was not really interested in the money he got from it but more of his ability to break into the system.

This guy, in a working society, would most likely have ended up as a Financial Security or Cyber Security expert, but look at where he is.
A walking talent but directionless, due to the kinda leaders we have been bestowed with since democracy started in Nigeria and way before then.

People like this in a developed world mostly end up as ethical hackers. It is another branch of IT Security. Companies do hire the hackers to break into their Security Systems so as to test how strong their Security Systems are.
The information he gave in this video is what he should be paid for by financial institutions because he gave enough information for them to make adjustments to their Online banking systems. The use of 2-factor authentication has to be greatly improved so as to solve most of the problems he mentioned.

But again, this is Nigeria. It is until a big customer or someone close to the bank's CEO lose millions of naira before they consider it worthy to look into. As far as the people losing money are the regular 8 -5 workers who earn just 70k monthly and has no voice in the society, they don't care!

A walking talent but directionless, due to the kinda leaders we have been bestowed with since democracy started in Nigeria and way before then.

God save Nigeria
.
We Rise!

You have made a very good point here Corona.
That was the second thing that came to our mind also.
God help Nigeria .
