Why do women always have to be victims? Why can't they be heroes or villains sometimes? |

Seun: Do you mean in stories by men, or do you mean women in general? |

Seun: Queen Boudica,an english tribal queen that took on the roman invaders and occupiers of england in 62AD was a villain in the eyes of the roman and a heroine in the eyes the native english. But tpia is a strife. |

They weren't known as English then oh, they weren't even Anglo Saxon which means that she would be more related to the Welsh. |

The English are mostly Anglo Saxon, that tribe of Boadicea is Celtic. Even the name English is from Anglisc which is from the Anglo Saxon Germanic tribe that invaded Britain hundreds of years after Boadicea. The Welsh are still Celtic so that's why they will be more related. |

ezeagu:Good point. But even in stories by women, men tend to be the primary actors. Women just react and have things done to them. Female characters who act end up disgraced. |

@ OP, I think your account is basically correct. This version: http://christiemack..com/2009/07/princess-adesuwa.html goes into detail and the ruler who killed her was from Agbor, which is in the Igbo area of Delta state, but I think the account is inaccurate as the ruler who killed her is remembered as actually being from Ubulu Uku, which is distinct from Agbor. Also she was not a daughter of the Oba, but instead a daughter of the Ezomo. @ Seun, In Benin history, Queen Idia, Emotan, and Princess Adesuwa are heroines. Also, the goddess Igbaghon is a kind of heroine. Here are some others: http://www.edoworld.net/More_Edo_Heroines.html |

The thickest fog of the black race is having a vague and deluded picture of the past, not wanting to take the pain and time to find out what it was really like, going only by what oyinbos says it was. You cannot understand the present and the future without understanding the past. |
