ENTRY REQUIREMENTS: EFFECTIVE 2020/2021
ACADEMIC SESSION

UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMMES
Admission requirements into the undergraduate programmes of the University of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences Umuagwo, shall be as follows:
i. All admissions into the University shall be through the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB);
ii. For admission to 100 Level (via UTME), candidates must: obtain Five (5) credits at SSCE (or equivalent) in relevant subjects at not more than Two (2) sittings, including credit passes in English and Mathematics; and attain acceptable points in UTME in relevant subjects;
iii. For admission by Direct Entry (200 Level), candidates shall, in addition to having Five (5) SSCE/GCE/NECO credits, obtain at least Two (2) A’ Level (or its equivalent) passes in relevant subjects, or possess ND with lower credit passes, HND with a minimum of lower credit, or possess a good first degree in another field as the case may be;
iv. Credit passes in English Language and Mathematics shall be compulsory for admission into all courses; and
v. The University shall not accept transfer student until after the first two (2) years of its existence.
Prospective students must, in addition to meeting the general admission requirements, also satisfy the school and departmental requirements detailed in this document:
Prospective students MUST in addition to meeting the general admission requirements have secured at least 160 points at the UTME in the 2020/2021 Academic Session. Students awaiting results of SSCE and NECO are eligible to apply.

B. SCHOOL OF SCIENCE AND COMPUTING

B.Sc. Food Science and Technology ND/HND in relevant field with at least lower credit pass, or Two ‘A’ Level passes in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. Five Credits at SSCE (or its equivalent) including Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English Language and any other Science subject. English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics or Biology.
B.Sc. Chemistry At least two ‘A’ Level passes in Chemistry and Mathematics or Physics with a minimum of 4 points. Five Credits at SSCE (or its equivalent) including Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, English Language and any other Science subject. English Language, Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics.
B.Sc. Microbiology i. At least two ‘A’ level passes in Chemistry and either Biology, Botany or Zoology with a minimum of 6 points.
ii. Diploma with lower credit in relevant courses in Microbiology from Polytechnics recognized by the University.
iii. Diploma in Biology Education with a merit pass. Five (5) ‘O’ level credits which must include English Language, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics. English Language, Biology, Chemistry and Physics.
B.Sc. Biology ND/HND in relevant field with at least lower credit pass, or Two ‘A’ level passes chosen from Chemistry and any of Physics, Mathematics or Biology. Five credits at SSCE (or its equivalent) in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. English Language, Chemistry and two of, Biology, Physics and Mathematics.
B.Sc. Biochemistry ‘A’ level passes in Chemistry and Biology or (Zoology/Botany) with a minimum of 6 points. Five (5) ‘O’ Level credits which must include English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. English Language, Biology, Chemistry, Physics.
B.Sc. Biotechnology ND/HND in relevant field with at least lower credit pass, or Two ‘A’ level passes chosen from Chemistry and any of Physics, Mathematics or Biology. Five credits at SSCE (or its equivalent) in English Language, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. English Language, Chemistry and two of, Biology, Physics and Mathematics.
B.Sc. Information Technology ND/HND in relevant field with at least lower credit pass, or Two ‘A’ level passes in one or more relevant subjects (Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics. Five credits at SSCE (or its equivalent) in English Language, Mathematics, Physics plus two other science subjects. English Language, Mathematics, Physics, and one of Biology, Chemistry, Agric Science, Economics and Geography.
B.Sc. Computer Science i. At least two GCE ‘A’ level passes which must include: Mathematics and Physics with a minimum of 6 points.
ii. ND/HND with minimum of lower credit in any of the following:
a. Data Processing
b. Computer Engineering
c. Information System/Information Technology. Five (5) ‘O’ level credits passes at not more than two sittings which must include English Language, Mathematics, Physics, and any two of Biology, Chemistry, Economics, Geography. English Language, Mathematics, Physics, and any of Biology, Chemistry or Geography.
B.Sc. Physics i. GCE Advanced Level passes in Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics with a minimum of 4 points.
ii. NCE with passes in Physics and (Mathematics or Chemistry).
iii. Diploma with a merit pass.
iv. OND/HND in Physics or Computer Science. Five (5) ‘O’ level credits passes or GCE (or its equivalent) which must include English Language, Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry and any other subject.
B.Sc. Mathematics ‘A’ Level passes which must be in Mathematics and a science subject with a minimum of 4 points. Five (5) O’ level credit passes which must include English Language, Mathematics, and any two of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Further Mathematics. English language, mathematics and any two of Physics, Chemistry and Biology.




C. SCHOOL OF ENGINEERING
COURSES DIRECT ENTRY REQUIREMENTS UTME ENTRY REQUIREMENTS UTME SUBJECTS WAIVERS AND SPECIAL CONSIDERATION
B.Eng. Water and Irrigation Engineering ND/HND with at least lower credit in relevant fields or Two ‘A’ level passes from Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics. Five (5) credits at SSCE (or its equivalent) including English Language, Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry and one Science or Social Science subject. English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics.
B.Eng. Chemical and Petroleum Engineering i. GCE ‘A’ level passes in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry with a minimum of 4 points.
ii. Merit in Diploma in Engineering.
iii. ND/HND in Engineering from Polytechnics with a grade not below than Lower Credit. Candidates should possess five (5) O’ level credit passes in the SSCE or GCE (in not more than two sittings) including English Language, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. English Language, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
B.Eng. Mechanical Engineering i. GCE ‘A’ level passes in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry with a minimum of 6 points.
ii. Merit in Diploma in Engineering.

D. SCHOOL OF ENVIRONMENTAL SCIENCES

B.Sc. Estate Management and Valuation i. ND/HND in relevant field with at least lower credit pass, or Two ‘A’ level credit passes in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry and five credit passes at SSCE (or its equivalent).
ii. ND/HND in related field with a minimum of lower credit level and good SSCE result may be considered. Five (5) credit passes in SSCE (or its equivalent) including English Language, Mathematics, Economics, and any other two subjects selected from Geography, Physics, Business Studies, Commerce, Geography, Biology, Agricultural Science, Chemistry and Technical Drawing. English Language, Physics, Mathematics, Geography and any relevant subject.
B.Sc. Environmental Management and Toxicology i. ND/HND in relevant field with at least lower credit pass, or Two ‘A’ level credit passes in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry and five credit passes at SSCE (or its equivalent).
ii. ND/HND in related field with a minimum of lower credit level and good SSCE result may be considered. Five (5) credit passes in SSCE (or its equivalent) including English Language, Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology or Agricultural Science and at least a pass in Physics. English Language, Physics, Mathematics, Geography and any relevant subject.
B.Sc. Horticulture and Landscape Architecture i. ND/HND in relevant field with at least lower credit pass, or Two ‘A’ level credit passes in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry and five credit passes at SSCE (or its equivalent).
ii. ND/HND in related field with a minimum of lower credit level and good SSCE result may be considered. Five (5) credit passes in SSCE (or its equivalent) including English Language, Mathematics, Biology, and any other two subjects selected from Geography, Economics, Chemistry, Physics, Technical Drawing, Fine Arts, Geography, Economics, Building Construction, Land Surveying and Agricultural Science. English Language, Physics, Mathematics, Geography and any relevant subject.

E. SCHOOL OF ARTS, SOCIAL AND MANAGEMENT SCIENCES
COURSES DIRECT ENTRY REQUIREMENTS UTME ENTRY REQUIREMENTS UTME SUBJECTS WAIVERS AND SPECIAL CONSIDERATION
B.Sc. Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution ND/HND in relevant field with at least lower credit pass, or Two ‘A’ level passes in any related social subjects. Five (5) credits at SSCE (or its equivalent) including English Language, Government, Mathematics, and any other two subjects. English Language, History, Government and any other two subjects from Arts and Social Sciences.
B.Sc. Criminology and Security Studies ND/HND in relevant field with at least lower credit pass, or Two ‘A’ level passes in any related social subjects. Five (5) credits at SSCE (or its equivalent) including English Language, Geography, Economics, Mathematics, and any other subject. English Language, History, Government and any other two subjects from Arts and Social Sciences.
B.Sc. Psychology ND/HND in relevant field with at least lower credit pass, or Two ‘A’ level passes in any related social subjects. Five (5) credits at SSCE (or its equivalent) including English Language, Economics, Mathematics, and any other subject. English Language, History, Government and any other two subjects from Arts and Social Sciences.
B.Sc. Philosophy ND/HND in relevant field with at least upper credit pass, or Two ‘A’ level passes to include English Language, Literature in English and one other Arts subject. i. Five (5) O’ Level, SSCE, GCE, NECO (or its equivalent) which may include Mathematics, English Language, and three (3) other subjects in Arts, Social Science and Science.
ii. Five (5) merit passes in TC II including English Language and four other subjects in Arts, Social Sciences and Science. English Language and any three (3) subjects from Arts, Social Science and Science.
B.A English Language ND/HND in relevant field with at least lower credit pass, or Two ‘A’ level passes to include English Language, Literature in English and one other Arts subject. Five (5) credits at SSCE (or its equivalent) including English Language, and any other Arts subjects. English Language, History, one Arts subject and another Arts or Social Science subject.
B.Sc. Taxation ND/HND in relevant field with at least lower credit pass, or Two ‘A’ level passes chosen from Economics, Government and Literature in English. Five (5) credits at SSCE (or its equivalent) including English Language, Mathematics, Economics, one Science subject and any other one relevant subject. English Language, Economics, Mathematics and any Social science subject.
B.Sc. Business Administration i. GCE ‘A’ Level or HSC pass in Management, Economics and at least one other subject with a minimum of 9 points.
ii. ND/HND with a grade not lower than lower credit.
iii. Foundation/Intermediate Examination passes of recognized professional bodies such as Chartered Institute Management of Nigeria (CIMN), Chartered Institute Marketing of Nigeria (CIMN). Candidates must possess five (5) credits at WASC/SSCE/NECO/GCE O’ Level, obtained in not more than two (2) sittings, which must include English Language, Mathematics, Economics, Commerce, one Social Science subject and any other subject in Arts, Science and Social Science. English Language, Mathematics, Economics and any Social science subject.
B.Sc. Marketing i. GCE ‘A’ Level or HSC pass in Management, Economics and at least one other subject with a minimum of 6 points.
ii. ND/HND with a grade not lower than lower credit.
