That was in your days and depend on so many things, your experience is your experience. Others have theirs too. I have heard the same story from a young lady who just finished of her friend's who are lesbian in the boarding school
Boarding school or day school a spoilt child will still be spoilt undecided

You're comparing children to college age kids.

If you don't teach ur children to develop life skills what type of adults would they turn out to be? Or are you assuming that background has no influence in how people turn out as adults?

In this our present world? Boarding school is big no for me. Immortality everywhere, lesbianism and gay everywhere, children so exposed to internet, Learning all sort of nonsense from the net and you won't be there to guard them. Gone re the days when boarding schools re good not now

Lmao
I don't know how you come up with all these, making lame excuses for people's behavior and decisions.

Are you aware people's environment aside family and peers, also influence them?

I want to believe since you went to a boarding school, you have this relative experience where we're binded by the school rules of waking up early to prepare for class, or morning devotion if it be a missionary school and going to prep at night.
Mind you, the rules of the school only shape the student's behavior to an extent, no one is forcing you to read, or go to class or telling you about your wrongs.

That's the difference between a day and boarding school.

What perverts? So they wont meet these perverts in college or in their places of work? Perversion that is even shown in movies and phones in the name of wokeness.

is it everychild that goes to boarding school that becomes a pervert? What dis those parents do differently that their children did not turn perverts?

So the best way to prepare ur child for the world is by hiding him from the reality of life and its challenges? You should train your child to hold his head high among his peers not run from challenges

Boarding schools are better if u have kids who are very careless and playful, just send them there to learn maturity and discipline. So its boarding school for me

Maturity in what sense? And what do you think is maturity?
Being forced to wake up early for class, ringing the bells to go pass your plate for food, only to get very little food that makes some children get too comfortable with always begging their friends and some of them might even have the thoughts of stealing.
Or is maturity about being in an environment where there's no one to correct about your wrongs or how to manage your time in everything you do?

Sigh you really don't know what maturity is all about. Just because you make decisions for yourself, doesn't mean you are matured, there are times a kid would make wrong decisions but they would be no one to caution him

So tell me, what is maturity?

Boarding school is basically prison. Only the child cannot do anything to protect themselves, and they may not even understand that they're being victimized. Why would any parent want to put their child in that situation?

I definitely agree with you on parents needing to be around during those early years but to say boarding school breeds cultists and gays is the most absurd thing I ever heard. I dont know about Nigeria but in Cameroon most boarding schools are run by Christian Missions. Catholic, Presbyterian, Baptist, Full Gospel and the Apostolic church. At the bolded I dont think you have been to a boarding school. The are well laid down disciplinary structures from class cordinators to dormitory captains to prefects and then house masters. During siesta even in the absence of a house master no student can be seen loitering or not in bed..There is self consciousness.

Some of these schools have been in existence as far back as 1948. I went to a Presbyterian mixed mission boarding school in the late eighties and early nineties. I have a daughter in a Catholic all girls Mission school... Most parents send their kids to these schools for quality results and dependency. The best results in Cameroon do come from Mission boarding school with well behaved kids. Isolated incidents of lesbiansm is not enough to tag them as a reservoir for lesbians . As for cultism it is not a Cameroonian problem..

I only know of two government boarding schools in Cameroon with the majority of students being day students. There are also private boarding schools that receive recalcitrant children in a bid to mould them up..

Now this is where you have it all wrong, Just because it is a missionary boarding school or it has been around for a long time doesn't mean, they won't be cultist or homosexual students among them.

If you are going to give a good fact, do so with your experience and not a glorified propaganda.

Stop using a single school to judge everyone. Not all schools eat little, every student is normally assigned to a teacher as a guardian so having someone to caution you is not an issue. The more the money you pay for your child in boarding school the more the quality of life, you can't compare a school of 40k a term to that of 150k/300k a term. Same way you can't compare a day school of 2k per term to a day school of 30k per term. Class is all that matters.

Boarding school is better because... Going to the boarding school was the best decision I made after primary school... Even though I cried on that first day I was going
That was back then. Parents taking their kids to boarding schools in today's morally depraved world where you cannot trust even the Form Masters and Form mistresses, school guardians and other kids from terrible backgrounds is a dangerous adventure that will end in premium tears. I want to see my kids every day to be able to access their educational growth, their morals and know what they re learning daily. Boarding schools take away your kids for months, keep them in the care of people you dont really know and return them at the end of the term or year total strangers who pretend while nasty things are happening unbeknownst to you.

Boarding School Better Than Day School?

there are a lots of reasons to send you kids to boarding schools, but in my opinion, boarding school is better than day school, students who are in boarding school are mentally and emotionally strong, most students find it hard to live in boarding school, a lot of them do cry when ever their parents come visiting. Boarding schools tend to teach moral and value which is lacking in today life.

Discipline

Discipline is one of the major reasons to send you kid to boarding school. Boarding school students are well-disciplined than the day school students. Discipline makes boarding school better than day school. There are different factors which contributes to the well discipline of secondary school hostel students. There are different set of rules which guide the boarding school students, for example, a boarding school student knows that he has to wake up on time, brush, do his morning duty(maybe sweeping the hostel, washing of toilet etc) take his bath on time, go to dinning in order not miss his breakfast.

Punctual

Punctual is one of the reasons to send your kid to boarding school. When it comes to time, boarding school students are good time managers than the day school students. Every day-to-day activities being carry out in boarding school have its specific time, we made reference to dinning time which is the most crucial among all. When you miss your meal, you have to go hungry and patiently wait for the next meal. Especially in boarding schools that doesn't allow provision, like the missionary school.

Hard Working

Yes hard work is one of the main reasons to send you kid to boarding school. Boarding schools breed students to be hard-working, the students who neglect their morning duties are being penalized. Those who hide during manual labor are not left out, they will be punished. Most students who come from the rich family find it hard to wash their clothes by their selves and carry out other mini duties. But in boarding schools, the case is different, nobody will wash your clothes for you, you will have to do it by your self.

Socialization

Social activity of the kid is also a reasons why boarding school is better than day school. Boarding school plays a key role when it comes to socialization . Most kids find it hard to socialize and mingle with other kids, boarding school tend to bring together kids with different background and characters. A dull kid will end up being outspoken and bright. Some kids find it difficult to speak in public, they tend to be afraid, but with the aid of boarding school, the kid will know how to relate with people he doesn't know.

Academic Performance

The kid academic performance is another reason to send your kid to boarding school. I wouldn't say that boarding school kids are more intelligent than the day school. Rather, I will say that boarding school students perform academically better than the day school. There is time for everything, the boarding school student tend to utilize his reading time than that of the day school. A day students may not have time to read after school due to many factors or might be busy doing nothing, but a boarding student will have time to read after school, because they are forced to go fot night prep(reading) every day for about 2 or more.

Free time

Most time, it is difficult for some parents to look after their kids at home,it could be as a result of their job. especially, bankers that leave home as early as 7am to be back by 8pm or 10pm when there is tragic for people staying in major cities like Lagos. A boarding school is perfect for such parents, it will be a home away from home.

I do agree on the fact that business people who have no time for their kids should sent them to boarding school but aside that, the rest you mentioned are mere excuses! Unless you wanna tell me a hostel mistress can discipline you more than your parents

Parents always pay attention to their kids (except the irresponsible ones) and they give the highest discipline

Being in a boarding school doesn't guarantee you academic success, I don't know of what fact you base this assumption.
You can't be playing when you have exams at home

If you know anything about socialization and boarding schools, then you know, there's limitation to your socialization unlike when you are at home, you keep learning new experience and even news about other people helps to enlighten the child.

In conclusion, don't sit and type assumptions with facts, it is both embarrassing and dumb.

Yes. Each student is assigned a teacher as a guardian that oversees their welfare, not on one to one basis but one teacher to 10 or 15 students. Should you have any issue with fellow students, seniors or teacher you are to report to them first and they take up the case. They are just like your parents in school.

Day school is not in the home. Don't be silly. And an adult going out into the world is in no way the same as a small child or even a teen. Again, don't be silly.

At no point did I suggest "hiding" the child from anything. What I stated very clearly multiple times is that a boarding school offers your child to abusers on a silver platter. Your job as a parent, among many things, is to protect your child. Even if the child is an adult, if some creep threatens them, you should be ready to f*** them up. But that's another matter. The bottom line is a child gets better development and education in a day school.
