Am careful not to sound like a male chauvinist, but was wondering, which fashion rule states that Nigerian ladies must stop wearing socks before shoes after secondary school, while men are crucified and perceived as unhygienic if they ever dress without socks.

Fashion rules are generally arbitrary. Get used to it.

seun, if fashion rules are arbitrary like you have mentioned, why does the society frown at men who out of personal discretion decide to put on shoes without socks, after all, except for very rare cases, most human leg have the same biological composition , if a man arbitrarily decides not to put on socks for an interview or dress without a socks on a tuxedo, his dress code is seen as incomplete and unprofessional.

The rules are arbitrary, but they are not made by individuals. You're supposed to follow, not lead.

but why e b say na only man come dey wear am,especially 4 nigeria, aldo some men need personal hygiene lessons as regards socks.

i think its a personal decision. there is no where it is written that women shouldn't dress with sock.

Every reply believes its a personal decision, which is correct, but we are all replying away from Nigeria, where the mentality is different. for example how often do you see Nigerian professional ladies or female students dress with socks, i was unlucky to sit close to a young lady inside Oceanic bank years back in Nigeria and due to foot itching she decides to pull her shoes, My sisters no b only me run ohhhh, because the odor pass Nuclear weapon ohhh.

the truth is that Nigerians see it as a silly fashion but out here, its jst normal to everyone.
