I have been wanting to create a thread on the incessant crash along the newly constructed(Partially Completed) Ijebu Ode / Epe Exp way. the rate of accidents on this route has increased since the road is open to traffic.

an articulated truck loaded with gravel heading towards Epe crash a J5 bus heading towards same direction this morning (13/08/2021, 07:20am) which left the two occupants of the J5 dead and the body of the assistant driver mangled and stuck between the wreckage of the bus underneath the head of the truck.

The driver and the ass driver of the said truck are no where to be found at the scene, FRSC and other security agent are on ground to manage the situation. the accident as caused major grid lock along this route as buses and articulated truck plying this route are currently at standstill as the two lanes were blocked, some inpatient drivers are now diverting into a community (imagbon) close to The Nigeria Brewery, Ijebu Ode, coz the accident happened few step away from the entrance of the brewery.

The spot opposite the brewery is known to be a blind and dangerous point, a truck loaded with 33,000 ltrs of PMS heading to ijebu ode rolled back last week, but the driver managed to put the truck in 7 position to stop it from failing into a ditch close by, dangote & bua bulk cement truck rammed into each other directly opposite this same spot two months ago when construction was still going on on that lane.

Imagbon community has record many casualties since the road was reconstructed, 5 people which 3 is from same family was killed on this same road when they went for identification and rescue mission of another family involved in a motorcycle crash on the road. A lone driver also crash his lexus ES350 while descending the dangerous slope adjacent the brewery.

The reconstruction of the Ijebu Ode / Epe rd has lead to influx of articulated trucks from dangote, GPC, tankers, containers and the reckless tripper trucks loading gravels & sand popularly called (awon omo no salary) .

I will suggest a speed bread be installed at some strategic point on this road to reduce to incessant road crash.

I know that road very well, you can connect from it from Ijebu Ode to Epe then epe to Ajah vice versa, may God continue to protect us.

Most time due to over speeding and recklessness of those Opel transport cars. Also the articulate trucks carrying sands, stone and gravels. Majorly their are no VISIBLE SIGNS of construction. Few weeks back I used the road, can you imagine, there was concrete of old road in the middle of the road and no warning sign. Likewise the long bridge used for dual carriage, people overtake with abandoned recklessness.
May God protect us, but Messers Craneburg Construction handling the road need to do more in terms of putting visible signs.
