First of all king cobras ain't true cobras.

Rattle snakes are a subspecies of viper.

Apart from haemotoxic and neurotoxic venoms, a snake's venom can be a mixture in some proportions of the two plus cytotoxins and other complex but dangerous proteins.

There is noting like a poisonous snake, no snake is poisonous because even humans consume their meat, a snake is either venomous or a constrictor; a king cobra is venomous, same as other elapids like black mamba, boomslang, krait, and co whereas, constrictors are snakes like python, boas like anaconda and the king snakes. We do have poisonous frongs because their skin secret some poisonous juice that when consumed can kill the predator.

A king cobra, a mongoose and the kingsnake which is another constrictor that preys on other snakes has only evolved defenses against venoms of snakes in their locality, if they are removed from their locality to another habitat, they will become susceptible to the venoms of snakes in that new habitat.

You will never find a king cobra, a rattle snake, an anaconda or a king snake in Nigeria because Buhari is more poisonous than them.

6. Their Biggest Predator Is the Mongoose

As powerful as the king cobra snake is, the one animal it will avoid crossing paths with is the mongoose. This small mammal, which is a member of the Herpestidae family, is only about a foot long, but is immune to the venom of many snakes. As a carnivore, the mongoose normally eats small rodents, like rats, but has been known to fight and kill venomous snakes. The mongoose won't hunt or track a cobra intentionally, but will defend itself if threatened.

Great educational post. The mongoose kills and eats the cobra whenever they cross paths. The small mongoose kills the cobra with so much ease by attacking the face.

I am shocked that some people don't know about the mongoose and snake fights. Some people have never even heard about the mongoose. These fights are popular for those who are even remotely interested in wildlife.

Anyways, aside the mongoose and the honey badger, snakes are also scared of eagles, racoons, coyotes and even PIGS.

Pigs are equally scared of snakes. Studies show this is so because snakes are close to the ground like pigs.

But snakes are not scared of pigs because of that. They are scared of pigs because a snake that mistakenly enters a pig pen never gets out alive. Once the pigs spot it, they will panic, and stomp on it in fear, thereby crushing it.
