You can take what I will tell you here to the bank;
1. Lexus wins this, because the Lexus would visit mechanic workshops a lot less frequently than the GLK

2. Rugged & Durability; the Lexus also wins this....it has a more rugged and reliable/durable. This is partly why the Lexus brand is the most reliable auto brand in the world at the moment

3. Comfort and balance; I will give comfort to the Lexus. From experience, Lexus seats are more comfortable than that of most Mercedes-Benz (except SEC lass of course).
I will give balance to the GLK.....

4. Fuel economy; the GLK wins this anyday. Both the Rx and the GLK are v6,.....Mercedes-Benz v6 engines are a lot more fuel efficient than Lexus v6 engines. If both full tanks were 80L, on the highway the GLK would give you an extra range (on the same full tank) of at least 200km above and beyond the Rx

5. General peace of mind; the Lexus Rx wins this....

I am a Mercedes-Benz enthusiast, ....and a realist as well

Lexus. It's way more reliable, has decent luxury, more availability of parts. I've driven a 2005 RX for over 7 years now, and no issues, apart from the usual maintenance and servicing. When it finally dies, I'm getting another RX.

The benz is way flashier, and a higher status car. But the only person who will really appreciate it is your mechanic, since you have to fix it all the time. grin

those cars are no more in that price range, you cant get foreign used rx350 less than 6m to 7m now and the Glk is a million or two higher than that, presently going btw 8 to 9m now.

This OP, if not really ready might end up buying rx330 05 model or ML350 06 model for his budget.

Cost of cars has left those behind presently. No talk say i9 no tell you ooo

I will advise you to go for Lexus, if you know how yo treat car well, you will never have to touch anything in the car for 2yearz except for wheel issues which won't cost you much.


Make sure you calibrate the trips after every service and don't do above 4000km if you're to use semi synthetic oil n if you're using fully synthetic, don't go above 5000km

First of all, I think GLK starts from 2010 not 2008.
Secondly, buy a car you can easily maintain. I presently use a Mazda SUV. Cool car, but the problem is that when something gets bad, and they call prize for you, u go fear. By Gods grace, I can afford the maintenance but nor be only t maintain car I come dis life come do. The engine of my car cost 750k(with the turbo charger).
I am thinking of selling it and getting a simple Toyota. I initially thought of selling and getting a GLK, but my mechanic laughed when i told him. He said na fry pan to fire in terms of maintenance o.

So bro, I advice that you get a simple car that you wont start crying later. Even if you are capable of maintenance, there are other important things u can channel the money to. U nr come dis life to dey maintain only motor.
