He lives a pennywise-man-foolish lifestyle. How can you be paying rents almost thrice your monthly net income?

Just look at the whole expenses listed there!

If I were earning ₦400k, I'd relocate to a flat where I can pay at maximum, ₦250k yearly (and that's because I want to have a family). A two bedroom flat is okay for a start.

I'd use my first monthly to pay it off, doing a little refurbishment too. I like to buy foodstuff in bulk so I am definitely going to spend up to ₦80k for it. If I don't have a freezer, I wouldn't bother buying goods that are too perishable. I would save for a freezer and a generator together.

I have to buy the major things so as to enable me begin to save. Sorry I didn't tell you, I don't save. I actually invest. I'd start up sth else with the saving..rather than leaving it lying adamant.

It's not a must to live a big boy life!

Look at the figures he uses to flex. To spend on top drink and woman!

So e no fit wash cloth or save up for a washing machine and drier?

Data for ₦10k? E should kuku send a CV to PornHub. Abi free WiFi no dey workplace?

Recharge card for ₦15k? Sure this uncle want to live long in this life? Even Elon Musk doesn't recharge ₦15k.

Cleaner ₦5k? En hand dey pain am? Why can't he marry and send this to his wife instead?

In fact, let me stop analysing. How old is his stupidity if I may ask?

Tell him to use the savings of ₦7800 to buy GO90 and Snipper and drink! He doesn't deserve to waste the oxygen others need. Better still, make una call Cele people to flog out the Aso-Rock demon in him.

It's nice to cloth your clothes according to your cloth size.

Where do you want to see 250k flat in lagos? Except its ikorodu or badagry. 400k will just get by in this economy for a family or some single guys.

If you work in an industry where alot of emphasis is placed on carriage, dressing and knowledge e.g consultancy, thise expenses are quite valid except may be dstv of 9500

I feel you bro. At least he should be able to save between 1.5 and 2 million at end of the year. You cannot justify this your 250k apartment because everything depends on location. You don’t expect him to move to Sango ota in Ogun state if his job location is at ikoyi / Victoria Island area. If I work in Ikeja area then living in Sango area will not be a burden at all. House rent takes the lion shares of workers salary in Lagos

Makes sense.

Lagos is overrated, abeg. An elder friend I know earns ₦1.3m somewhere in Lagos. He couldn't beat the transportation thing. He had to take a loan to buy an SUV of ₦3.9m...although he has paid the loan completely. Another factor came up; traffic congestion.

Lagos no just easy.

For one person.

This person is living a large life.

A family of two feeds on 50k per month conveniently.

His feeding bill is off the roof.

He needs to cut down on data and airtime usage.

He needs to get an inverter, with 250k, he can get one that will serve him well for a long period of time. I've used mine for over a year without servicing, I only replaced the water.

He needs to cut down on his hangout expenses.

If he's a commuter that goes from work to house, his fueling bill will reduce.

Please, do you have any idea about the durability of the inverter?

Can it last up to 3 yrs?

What are the things it can power?

And where can I get it?

Assuming he is married with 2 kids, what do you think their schools fees will be for just 2 kids.

You dont dress anyhow to such jobs

What of fuel for gen and car
What of parents upkeep
What of rent
What do you think the cost of building materials is.

Him no go drink beer for weekend

Many people do not earn up to that amount and they did have the house of their own. The koko is for you to cut your expenses to barest minimum level, if i earn such amount in a month i will conveniently save 200k from it every month

This expense isnt too much for someone in financial consulting. Its just ok. The only thing he needs to cut is perhaps housing. He needs to network, 30k a month isnt too much for that, it will serve him well in d future in his career

LOL. 1 m? You are disconnected from the Nigerian reality. You have to climb off your high horse and smell the coffee.

There are families of four five six who live on less than 100k per month. And they are not dieing.

There is a cloth for every size.

BTW, how many people get jobs that pay 400k? Let's just be grateful. What you have (no matter how small) is wealth to others...
90% of Nigerian homes are below the poverty level. My estimates are based on how an ideal family should be. Sadly, the country's situation is not getting any better.

I've used it for up to a year now without issues. I live in a two bedroom house, it powers a socket in each room plus bulbs and fans. Same in the sitting room. It doesn't power my freezer or fridge though it can power it but the energy consumption is off the roof.

I never use more than 15% of the energy at a time though. I only power a room at a time.

And I have a rechargeable fan that the inverter can also power and a blender.

It doesn't power AC sha.

Someone earns about 400k monthly which is suppose to be a very good salary, but his expenses despite frugal is not cutting it.. he has been advised on marriage countless times, but he does not just know how to support such. He tries to make people see reason as to why the "big boy tag" does not fit because he cant see it at all..

- his job prevents me from cooking and he really does not know how to cook either, really really bad at cooking.
- he stays in an apartment of 1m/annum, which is somewhat not luxury I think.

Rent - 84,000 monthly (average 2 bed)
Security - 5,000 monthly
Estate security - 3,000 monthly
Cleaner - 5,000 monthly
Dstv - 9,500 monthly
Auto Fueling - 50,000 monthly
Auto servicing - 7,000 (3mths projection)
Auto miscellenous/charges - 10,000 (tolls,pr)
Generator fuel/service - 30,000 monthly
Laundry - 10,000 monthly
Feeding - 77,500 (2,500/day)
Hangout/chills/network - 30,000 (7,500/week)
Clothing/wears/accessories - 10,000 (monthly)

Home maintenance/personal care- 10,000 (monthly)
Healthcare miscellenous - 5,000 (monthly)
Internet data - 10,000 (monthly)
Recharge card - 16,000 monthly (500 daily)

Total = N395,200
Savings - 7,800

How in the world would he explain to people that he does not have. He is an introverted character and a very frugal in finances. He didnt not factor in furnishing et all.. he has no school fees and multiple mouths to feed.

A million naira accomodations, ₦30k for hangout,₦10k laundry services,₦9500 Cable TV, and ₦77k monthly feeding will make him to be living from hand to mouth.

How about maintaining the ₦10k internet subscription and Plug it on Smart TV to watch all the watchable?

Buy a washing machine and do the laundry yourself, look for someone to iron them for ₦200 a shirt or ₦300 a pair of shirt and trouser.

Learn how to cook, there is no excuse for ₦77k feeding fee, if you stock your home with ₦70k you will live on that for over 3 months.

Cut your hangout,if you must hang out,go to places like a beach or not too expensive hangout where you will save money, who hangout help?.

Above all look for a relatively cheap accomodations around ₦500-₦600k, saving you almost half of that in a year or if you still want to claim your big boy, look for Flat's that are for sale in that same neighborhood, get a bank to finance it for you and in less than 10yrs you will own it and stop paying rent.

Big boyism no dey help anybody these days oo, except you wan spend your old age in regrets.

What if your company decided to downsize?
You need to turn back from this ruinous path

How do you manage your work responsibilities? Whoever spends in this manner can run down a Fortune 500 company in 2 weeks.

Just make sure you don't accept a budgetary-related role in your company and forget about starting a business.
