Over 100 participating dance groups, with about 28 royal fathers, mothers and stakeholders showcased the unique culture of the Anioma people at the Arcade Ground, Asaba, venue of this year’s festival.

Thousands of tourists that throng the venue of the festival cheered the energetic dance art of Egwu- Oshushu, Egwu Amala, Egwu Aja - maiden dance, Aguba-royal dance, peculiar to the Anioma people. Also, the infusion of wrestling contest, raffle draw and fashion added glamour to the festival.

Arc. Kester Ifeadi, President of the Organization For the Advancement of Anioma Culture (OFAAC), the coordinators of the annual festival, speaking on the theme of this year’s festival: “Spirit of Unity in Anioma”, said that culture remains a unifying factor and group cohesiveness for an ordered society.

He thanked both individuals and corporate organizations particularly, MTN, West African Food seasoning among others for their unalloyed support for the Anioma cultural festival. He said: “We owe it to our forefathers to hand over to the future generation, what we inherited from them, therefore, the theme for this year’s festival “Spirit of unity in Anioma” is most welcome, because as people we must come together as one, review periodically our vision and aspiration, understand our culture and historical values in a community platform.”
