You are right but the bolded is wrong. Engines are not to defy the laws of physics. Infact, engines operate on the bases of laws of physics.
Newton's 2nd law of motion states: To every action, there is equal and opposite reaction force. This is the principle of engine-propelled rocket. It doesn't mean earth's gravitational pull isn't acting on the rocket, just that upward reaction force is greater than the gravity. The rocket pushes air downward, and the air react by pushing the rocket upward.

I tried all I could to find out the particular law of physics that the discovery defied, but to no avail. However, anything that works with heat, force and energy is still in line with the application of physics. All the same, kudos to China if it was really confirmed.

It wasn't a hypersonic missile but a 70's era Soviet Fractional Orbital missile.

The hypersonic gaggle is pure CCP propaganda.

Only the Russians have Hypersonic capabilities with their Ramjet powered missiles.

The Pentagon and Washington MIC are playing along with the CCP propaganda because they want more funds to be allocated to accelerate their own hypersonic arsenal.

The key to developing hypersonic missiles isn't the projectile force or accelerant but rather the material casing that will prevent the missile itself from overheating and burning out due to the high air friction acting on its surface.

The Russians have broken the barrier on this hurdle and are keeping it a close secret.

On a straight-line map it will seem to have covered a large distance in very short time but its speeds are not hypersonic and the missile can easily be brought down.

Unlike the Russian arsenal of hypersonic missiles that can be launched on fighter and bombers, the Chinese missile requires a rocket launch pad at the surface .

As I said, the MIC and Pentagon are using their presstitutes in the media to hype this CCP propaganda towards accelerating an arms race.
