1k birds will feed 105 to 115g /day = 105kg
105kg x 30days = 3150kg
3150kg / 25kg per bag = 126bags of layers mash per month
126bags x 5550 (price per bag) = 699,300 naira for feeding
1k birds can 960 eggs per day at peak lay
960 eggs / 30 = 32 crates
32 crate x 30days = 960 crates
960crates x 1200 per crate = 1,152,000 naira
1,152,000 from sale of egg - 699,300 for feeding = 452700 profit
Might be lower or higher

If you really mean business go and visit some farms and don't wait for unreal permutations and combinations you'll get here....
The ROI from that person above me really cracked me up.

on average you would have to feed them growers or prelay for a couple of weeks . If they are 16 weeks you are looking at 70/80 grams per bird and a weekly increase of the grams.

Quality of the birds matter, if you pick under fed birds or flock that lacks good uniformity then expect to feed for longer before they come to lay.

I wont get into fancy calculation but on average 16 weeks expect to feed ( say 75grams per bird) 3+ bags daily for the first week , increase to 80 or 85 and as the grams increase ,the bags needed will go up .

The eggs market looks good at the moment but it's not always like that so beware.

960 birds out of 1000 is not realistic on a normal normal. Abi u want to keep them indoor whereby you'll control their room temperature and get equipment to always analyse their feeds to make sure it's on point et al.
Their are other things that you'll factor; medication- their cost of medication is a big factor, infact if one is not careful the cost of giving antibiotics for 5days can wipe a week's profit. Go visit practicing farmer dem go give you street O.T as regards that.
For better ROI you shouldn't opt to buy ready made feeds. Look towards making your own apart from cost saving u have a better control over the quality of what goes into their mouth more also you can easily tweak the feeds quality when the need arises: Weather condition, age, material cost.
Many people have been jumping into poultry business and getting burnt.
Observe your due diligence learn the rope. All in all Money dey poultry business wella o my brother.

You did not consider some cost such as:
Vaccination and medication cost
Transportation cost(movement of feeds)
Labour cost
Wood shaving cost( incase of deep litter system)
Petrol cost( for pumping water)
Etc.

Also the 96% laying percentage is rarely attainable and sustainable. 78% to 85% laying % should be used for calculation.

From my active experience, 1000 layers can give you guaranteed profit of 150k to 180k monthly. Thus formulating your own feed increases your profit.

At Op, I can write a business plan for you for further clarification.

thanks for ur contribution, d only expenses we are taking into consideration now is feed,Feed ofcourse constitutes 95% of total cost under normal condition ?

@ Aliadi2 I like d way you calculated d cost piece by piece from your calculations I was able to further breakdown d cost of feed/bird/day and cost of an egg.
In my location a crate sells for #1300 to #1600 farmgate price with mixed sizes i,e if u see because demand is more than supply.
The way I see d business you can make more profits if you can make your own cheaper & quality feeds...sourcing for d major raw materials will not be easy in some locations and U need to buy raw material in bulk to reduce logistic expenses.

You have tried with this calculation but as said by others here,
u can't just calculate based on feed alone
Percentage of lay at 96%? Haba this is only possible if you are using battery cage where birds not laying are easily identified and culled.
If deep litter, just go with with 75% to 80%.
And profit at #452,700 is impossible.
#150,000 probably.

This is my advice,
1. you can only go into poultry (egg) production If you have other source of income
2.don't put your life saving(all your money) in it
3. As a first timer don't start with 1000 birds( 200 to 500 is OK, so that u can learn from it).
4. If you are prone to high blood pressure, don't do this business.
5. Note that poultry business presently is not booming, those in it are just doing it for continuity and hoping Nigeria go better.
6. Note that I am talking from experience
