So sad!... On top how much monthly salary to begin with?!!

His heads and managers earn far more while working in better conditions with little to no risks.

No hazard allowance, no proper remunerations... Just risking their lives for next to nothing!!!

This can only happen in niger. How can he climb the pole dressing like that naw. If you try this in abroad, u will be jaild. He should have been putting on his current resistance coverall, safety boot, resistance hand glove, helmet with front cover glass.. Incase wire fall or u slipped.. But he seems to dress like someone hanging out instead. Rip man

What are you saying it's 500volts. That thing is usually 33kVA, or 11kVA. With that we're looking at something in excess of 10,000volts.

That is the fallacy most Africans, Nigerians and particularly ibos live by, that as a male, somehow, you're supposed to possess some form of supernatural powers to provide solely.
Thank God I have a different mindset. Me, my wife, my friends, my inlaws are all in, together, we all provide

Rip. May God almighty console the family he left behind
That's an 11,000volts Cable. Even with PPE the risk is still very high.

They should have switched off the energy from the feeder and allow the static charge to decmimate from the high tension cable before
Commencing repairs on it.

3 things are the likely causes:

1. Either the feeder was not switched off

2. Or it was switched off and there is static charge in the cable

3. Or there is a bridge of the power line from another feeder.

Reason why grounding equipment is required to provide safe working space

shocked

Why didn't BEDC turn off supply to that area/ station pending resolution from the team?

Why aren't the workers in full protective gear?

No helmet, no safety boots, no overall, substandard gloves.

I agree the job is hazardous, but why isn't there any safety precaution?

is There an HSE officer on ground?

Lots of questions but no answers.

This is Nigeria. Anything you see, take it like that.
Am not sure their staffs undergo HSE training, because to start with his full ppE should be worn, they should do some investigation before carrying out any work at height and take necessary safety precautions.
Safety first, safety always.
