loan company should have office everywhere and their debtor can bring valuable things to their office until he repay the loan. There are some people who is decent and won't mind to bring land document or valuable item to their office for assurance that they(debtor) are not running away. Na things wey bend turn some people to debtor, some have a good reputation but things just change and turn things upside down

U reminded me of a good friend who borrowed a bag of rice from one of our shops for 16k, He was so desperate & promise to pay IMMEDIATELY his monthly salary dropped..that was in 2016, up to dis day d fuvcker hasn't paid. And I WILL NEVER FORGIVE HIM, HE MUST PAY EVEN IN the next world

Since you have their BVN, deduct your money from any of the defaulters account.

The defamation is bad. Simple!

Palmcredit will not even argue with you, after few months they deduct their money with interest from the person's account

Why are you calling them thieves? Did they force them to take the loan? A loan the give out to those in serious need without background checks? And people get this loans with few minutes after filing the form. They are really helping people even though that the interest is high
Not helping please, just taking advantage of desperate situations. Their main concern is the super repayment interest. 7days like it's that easy. They still remain business inclined sharks...thats Why They go about harassing and defaming their defaulters even just for a day or two delay

Maybe this is a coincidence, I don't know. But today I learnt that a guy borrowed money from over 15 loan apps and refused to pay

This kind of person don't give a damn if he is blackmailed or not

These are the people that make it look difficult for people with genuine reason for not meeting up with repayment of their loans

But I think that after a person is deflamed, he or she should get a recompense for that, perhaps, the new law which is to check these excesses of online App agents should be hastened to put the embarrassment on check
I only sympathize with japa group. If you have ambition of traveling never owl any finance house who report on credit bureau,It might cost you Application rejection.

That leads to the problem of people then not being able to access loans

The loan app companies are 'evil' but if we scrap them

1.No more ability to get payday loans

2.Most banks don't give payday loans...unless you have a salary account with them.

3.Most people who want loans don't have the collateral to apply for them...and banks won't look at you if you have zero collateral.

The app companies are bad...but for now they fill a niche that no one else would fill. I don't see banks like First bank or GTB offering similar loans for poor Nigerians.
They should go abeg. They were not here before and we survived

The disgrace and embarrassment of defaulters is becoming irritating.

Nigerians are difficult people. Why take a loan when you have no means of paying it back?

Some of these fuc.king bastards have means of paying back, but they would rather receive payment for their pathetic services with another person's account just to pepper the loan company.

The best way to go about this is still imprisonment!
Idiots should be imprisoned if they fail to pay back a non-collateral loan after some time. Then send a message to their contacts that their idiot relative has been remanded in prison with no hope of even watery beans.

Bros, no be everybody dey borrow without intention of paying back. E Be like life never jam you Sha. Or maybe you still dey collect free money from your papa

embarassed Some of these people intentionally take these loans knowing that they have no desire nor intentions to pay back, one recently bragged here that his friend took some loans and fled to Europe to further his education and he too is planning to do the same. Sometimes you begin to wonder if wickedness originated from Nigeria.

I have stopped wondering long ago, it is actually originated from Naija. 95% of Nigerians are senselessly wicked.

It's very clear you don't know anything about the banking system.

The impossibility of what you wrote is raised to power 1billlion.

Do you know how much companies loan from banks that whenever money enters thier account, they'll just wipe it off , very funny.

The thing it does is to give you a bad credit score.

thief, how can you be giving loan with 40%interest in 7days, if you send derogatory message to my contacts, I will never pay again. You and CBN will do nothing as I won't use all my accounts to receive money again

You can Imagine, 40% In Just 7days, Isn't that EVIL!!! Some bastvrds will come on here and say they are sure the borrower saw the Loan Interest Rate and also agreed to the terms and conditions before collecting the Loan. Most of the loan apps are EVIL & Scammers taking advantage of the situation of the nation. Imagine you borrow 5k, You will In turn pay 9.5k In Just 7days. And they expect people not to default. It's a Case of Scammers Scamming Scammers. Only few of the Loan Apps like Quickcheck & Co charge reasonable Interest and It Is monthly not weekly.....

You people are missing the point.

The point is after subjecting defaulters to blackmail, and even defamation (which is a criminal offense in Nigeria), is the defaulter still bound to pay?

The issue is not whether people have the means or not of repaying.

Aside the fact that interest and service charges mount from the day of repayment, the riffraff that run these loan apps continue to blackmail their clients, including going as far as defaming them.

Mind you, I have heard cases of people who defaulted by only a few hours, but were already being harassed.

Don't mind those people up there. There was a time I needed money for my business during the locked down period and I got a #50k loan from a company loan app. I couldn't pay the money for like 4month after the repayment due date, the company didn't even call me but they only send me text messages to remind me of the loan amount with interest and immediately I got the money to pay, I just cleared the loan with me adding my own interest join their own self and I still have some money on their app there, and there was one other one that I got just 10k from that was sending me some disturbing messages n I was expecting any of my friends to call me and tell me they got a call or message from them cus if they did I wouldn't have bothered myself to pay that money back. You insult me call me names to my client that will pay me money to clear my loan and cause damages to my business and u still expect me to pay you back the loan with interest, ko Jo o

when you gave poor person #5000 loan and you expect the poor man or woman to pay back #9000 in less than 7days, now this poor dude was desperate and urgently needed money, he took the loan at the time, 7days has come and gone, he couldn't pay more than #7000, your loan company keep increasing defult charges on the remaining #2000, calling all his/her contacts, sending derogatory messages all along, before you know it, the poor man took another similar Loan to pay you off when you almost choked life out of him, then the chain reaction continue till the poor become wretched but you come out to claim you are helping the poor,

In as much as it's bad to borrow without paying, it worst to send derogatory messages to presumed friends and relatives. I think the loan company should confine their their third party stuff to one or two guarantors before giving out loans.

Come to think of it, they are adding outrageous default fees on daily basis, that means their money is even increasing, why burging people unsolicited messages?

Exactly. U are adding interest every day and you are still sending derogatory messages to their contact. Anything could have come up between the time frame the person got the loan that made him default which could affect the payment date and decide to pay some days latter. Why harassing them just after some days of default and not give a grace of 7days or so, after all they still have to pay with interest
