Some of these pastors like making controversial statements just to draw attention.
But what he should have said was Marriage does not guarantee your happiness. Some people find joy & fulfilment in marriage while others experience hell on earth when they get married, especially married to the wrong spouse.

Some pastors atimes like to play the parable game... How will u say marriage is not designed to make u happy.. A union that doesn't make u happy shouldn't have existed in the first place...this pastor's statement is confusing and difficult to understand. It not to make u happy but to make u better.. If u are not happy there won't be motivation to make things better.

If that's the case, then society should stop pressurizing people to marry. Better to be unhappy as a single man than be unhappy as a married man.

I think the message is basically for women, some women who think marriage is a way to beat poverty. When they, themselves have not equipped themselves enough from their parents house to conquer poverty.
