A security guard identified as Jacob Obomerelu has been arrested by the Kwara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps for raping his 18-year-old daughter.

The 47-year-old security guard who works in a residential building at Awolowo Road, Tanke area, Ilorin was said to have raped his daughter on Monday, December 6 in a gatehouse served as an apartment to him.

The suspect was arrested following a complaint from the victim's guardian to the agency.

It was gathered that the victim moved out of her father’s house in 2017 after he separated from her mother, and was adopted by one Alhaja Mariam Bello in the Gaa-Akanbi area of Ilorin, but later moved back with her father after having issues with the lady who adopted her.

In a statement by the NSCDC:

"She said she begged him not to rape her, but all her pleas fell on deaf ears, as he behaved like a hypnotised person and later gave her N1,000 to buy drug to flush her system.

“On Tuesday, December 7, 2021, we were tipped-off by one Alhaja Mariam Bello, who claimed that the girl, who happened to be her adopted daughter, was raped by her biological father, adding that the victim used to live with her at her Isale Gaa Akanbi residence but moved out to stay with her dad after a little misunderstanding between her and the victim.”

Confirming the arrest, NSCDC spokesperson, Babawale Afolabi said upon being interrogated, the father of four who is from Edo state blamed the devil, claiming that he was not in his right mind when he did it. The suspect charged to court.

Why are people always quick to blame the devil for their own wickedness? Chai..this devil has really suffered in the hand of this generation and it's hight-time he gets lawyers to plead his case

I don't know where all this rape issues are getting to. Has it now become a life style or partern that some men can't stay without raping. Anywhere they should capture him and put him to prison, for commiting evil. Let him remain in prison untill he is advanced in age and let justice prevail.
