Policy Alert has announced plans to hold a Special Panel Session on “The Energy Transition in Africa: An anti-corruption perspective” at the ongoing Conference of the States Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC) holding this week at Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt.

The hybrid event, co-organised with Natural Resource Governance Institute (NRGI) and other partner organisations, will hold at 12.00noon (Egypt time) tomorrow Friday December 17, 2021, at the St. Catherine Conference Room at the International Congress Centre, Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt while virtual participants can join via Microsoft Teams at https:///3p0lXBE.

A statement signed by the organisation’s Executive Director, Tijah Bolton-Akpan, said: “The energy transition has been heralded as a solution for both the energy and the climate crises. But corruption has not only exacerbated climate change but also severely limited the options for the energy transition. The reality we must face is that the road to a low carbon energy future is actually strewn with governance risks, and an effective and just transition must address those risks...
