1n 2014 Russia annexed crimea forcefully despite warning from US and NATO, Russia invaded Georgia in 2008 as well.
Russia is currently in Syria at the request of Syrian government, providing military support for Syrian army.

Russia has more nuclear warheads and tanks than any other country, a nuclear exchange between US and Russia will be catastrophic, it will devastate the entire planet.

North Korea is a nuclear armed country, South Korea is US ally, there is about 28.000 American troops stationed in South Korea.
I don't know how far America will go if North Korea lunches attacks on south.

America has the strongest military in the world with annual military spending of over 700 billion dollars, The United States spends more on national defense than China, India, Russia, United Kingdom, Saudi Arabia, Germany, France, Japan, South Korea, Italy, and Australia combined.

But can America and NATO really stand up to these powerful countries and defeat them?

China is now much interested in Space exploration than war. There are so many valuable materials in space, Asteroid belt alone should be enough.

Apart from few proxy wars, an all out war like the previous world wars is almost impossible. The world is so interconnected and interdependent in terms of commerce and services that a world war will bode no one any good. Not to talk of the advanced nuclear and chemical weapons as you mentioned.

Anyways, I believe that in many years to come we would’ve evolved past the need to fight. Conflict is primitive.
