Good morning Nairaland. Education gurus in the house, I need some advice, please. I'm about rounding up my first degree in an Engineering course, while also preparing to apply for another first degree in Medicine and Surgery. I initially planned sitting for the GCE 2022 second series exams, just so I could obtain a stronger O'Level certificate. However, I fished out my current WASSCE certificate this morning and somehow wondered whether it might stand a chance, fully considering the possibility of missing a whole year while waiting for the GCE results to be released. So, I would love to find out from the experienced educators in the house: should I fill in with this particular result and concentrate on scoring higher marks in JAMB? Or, should I ignore it altogether and go for a stronger WASSCE certificate? Thank you.

I don't know about other schools but in OAU your O'level is just 10% of your total score so what grade you've got doesn't really matter 1 Like |

yes.... base on the 5 credit requirement for clinical/ basic science course... mathEng PhyChemBa.... (math, eng, phy, chm, bio) now base on schools.. because sch like UI , Unilag n some... like A1, B2 ... while some others dnt care,... credit is credit.. so far is C6 to A1... all na credit... success. 1 Like |

Depends on the school…. In my school, all they need for medicine is just passing at one sitting, no one cares if it’s C6 parallel 1 Like |

Just get the JAMB cut off point. Any type of credit na still credit for waec 1 Like |

It depends , avoid schools that use O lev el results to calculate your aggregate score. I'm also an engineering student who wanted to study medicine but gave up after two attempts due to this o level stuff. Just avoid schools that use o level and you'll be fine. 3 Likes |
