"Apple Pay and Google Pay services will be unavailable for Visa and MasterCard cards. Nevertheless, it is possible to use the standard contact or contactless payment by cards in full scope in the entire territory of Russia," the Central Bank said.

The Mir Pay mobile payment service can also be used for contactless payment with the use of smartphones, the regulator noted.

All cards of Visa and MasterCard issued by Russian banks will continue working normally on the Russian territory. Transactions on them are processed inside the country and sanctions do not affect them, the Central Bank said.
