Dangote Group’s Executive Director and President of Manufacturing Association of Nigeria (MAN), Mansur Ahmed, has assured Nigerians that the upcoming Dangote Petroleum Refinery would help address the volatile fuel crisis in the country.

This is coming against the backdrop of torrents of commendations from President Muhammadu Buhari, Gov. Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna State and Defence Minister Bashir Magashi.

Dangote Group is one of the winners at the Kaduna International Trade Fair that ended on Sunday.

Speaking, President of KADCCIMA, Alhaji Suleiman Aliyu, described the partnership with Dangote as very important for deepening commercial activities in the country.

That's if Nigerians are ready to allow Dangote sell petrol from his refinery at a profit....so that he can pay his production costs, loans, taxes, etc.

If we insist on subsidy, and on fuel being below N162, we would be sabotaging the refinery, and see no benefit, and loss of jobs.

4 refinery that broke down because Nigeria sold fuel at a loss from them since the 1973 and paid subsidy that did not cover the losses.

And the only way those refineries would work again is if NNPC is privatized, and subsidy and government subvention goes, then see how them NNPC workers will make those refineries work again...dry bones will rise.

Nigerians should just get ready for ₦400/litre fuel price.
Dangote borrowed a whole lot of money to build that refinery and will tell you he has to pay back and that at ₦165/litre he cannot not only be able to pay back but that the refinery would be running at a loss.
FG will tell you it cannot subsidise fuel from Dangote because it's a private enterprise free to fix any price it wants to sell.
It would also tell NNPC to stop importing fuel and that any marketer is free to import but would have to source foreign exchange from the open market because the CBN has removed fuel import from the list of preferential items to fund with foreign exchange.
₦400 will later turn to ₦450 to ₦500 till down the line we finally arrive at buying at international rates of nothing less than ₦600/litre for fuel but with Nigerian level earnings.

They have known what to do...remove subsidies. Since 1993.

But most of you Nigerians don't want to pay market price for fuel, you want to pay cheap, but unrealistic prices for fuel.

So, right now, NNPC...imports fuel at N330 (282 naira 4 weeks ago, N232 in June 2021) and sells it at N162, and you expect enough profit to build and maintain refineries? Or build more refineries? The money that would have done that, part of it is lost, the rest is paid as subsidy, which does not cover the losses NNPC is making.

So, we know what to do. REMOVE SUBSIDY, AND ALLOW THE MARKETER CONTROL THE PRICES. NOT GOVERNMENT.

Yesterday 520 today 650 per liter!
Which factory can run as such cost?
Last last it will be cheaper to import finished products from China as cost of production will be too high.

Unless they plan to remove subsidy and fully deregulate if not, we will now have 5 useless refineries in Nigeria.
