What An Apple Search Engine Means For Netizens And Why Google Wouldn’t Want It by PericomaNwankwo: 7:44pm On Mar 20, 2022
With about 3.9 billion Smartphone users across the globe, Apple’s iPhone holds about 23% of these massive community of smartphone users – With approximately 1 billion iPhone users globally, it is no understatement to say that Apple owns a significant chunk of the internet. Even, there have been unverified rumors that Google Pays Apple over 16 billion Dollars annually just to stay off the Search Engine Business. Despite the availability of other Search Engines, Google seems to see no competition, and may actually be running a market monopoly.

But why not? iPhone Users pride in Apple’s uniqueness. From Hardware features to Software features of the iPhone, it’s distinction is gloriously pronounced.

So, let’s beat it – An Apple Search Engine is bad market for Google. Here is the reason for this:
The activities of Bing, Yandex and other Search Engines may be ignorable when compared to Google’s market dominance in the industry, but the introduction of an Apple Search Engine will cause the loss of over 1 billion users that will switch from Google to the factory Software of their iPhone. This is a huge loss, and will trigger a total rebirth of a new IOS based Search Engine industry.

Apple’s uniqueness may trigger the development of a competitive system of information management. SEO experts, Advertisers, Open-Source Intelligence Experts and all child industries associated with Google Search Engine will have an alternative in the IOS platform.

This is not a good addition to the unending Android vs IOS competition. So, this way, Google might have done their homework by drawing statistics on what a potential Apple Search Engine could cost them, and hence settled to rather pay off Apple, whilst maintaining Market Dominance of the Search Engine business.

So, what would an Apple Search Engine Mean for Netizens and Why Doesn’t Google Want It??

In conclusion, an Apple Search Engine will cut off a huge chunk from the users of the Google Search Engine, and this will come with cutting off advertiser’s dependence on Google, thereby reducing overall income from the primary source of Google’s earnings – Search Engine!!!.'

Nice one, OP. A search from Apple would definitely have an impact on Google's user-base. However, I believe software/online products from Google are still more likely to dominate the internet than anything from Apple. Apple's dominance is in the hardware business. Android is still the most popular mobile operating system out there. This, combined with the fact that Google has a higher internet share, implies they'd still have more users. Safari is Apple's browser and comes pre-installed on IPhones. And yet, Chrome is the most popular browser out there. This should give us a hint of what to expect if Apple drops thier own search engine.

Very correct, Android has the biggest community of users, yes. An Apple search engine will not entirely end Google's dominance for sure, yet it will surely reduce both individual and business users and thus will affect Google's net income.

Google will still have the market dominance, but no more among iPhone users. Phone operating system is a major metric in digital marketing.

True. I totally agree.

But like Nigerians say, beauty attracts a man, but character keeps him. The OS brings the product to users and ensures it works more seamlessly with other applications on the platform. However, only the functionalities/performance of the product actually keeps the users in the long run. Microsoft Windows comes with Edge but most Windows users still stick to Chrome. The influence of the OS only helped Explorer beat Netscape Navigator back then, but Chrome proved to be superior over time. It's even trickier when we're talking about a web based application where users can access any search engine of thier choice even while using Apple's Safari. My point is, just making an Apple search engine the default one on IOS is not enough. Apple will need to do much more than that to beat what Google has to offer. Otherwise, Google would still be a strong contender in the Apple community.
