Java 7 Lauches On 7/7 (7th July) by SayoMarvel(m): 3:47pm On Jul 02, 2011 |
What possibilities will it bring? What feature will it add? How many businesses will get better? How many codes will be refactored? How many legacy features will be marked obsolete? How many standard methods will earn themselves the @deprecated annotation? What performance boost will it bring? How many existing algorithms will be re-implemented? The hopes are high and the expectation is crazy for the highly anticipated Java 7. |

The swing package has improved, strings in switch statements, a few deprecated classes, JDBC4.1, improvement in concurrency, updated xml stack and some others. Just listed the few i know but Java 7 is not the main toolkit we should expect, its JDK7 with new collections, algorithms, packages and a lot of stuff, 7 is just a cover to close up d space between 6 and 8. |

Well yeah but i think they know what they are doing. android and iOS are ruling right now. They are probably trying to find a gap which i think is a good idea. |

Mobinga: You should always expect such especially in an evolving technology. The only thing that is permanent is CHANGE. |

Does Java 7 support Functional Programming as in SCALA? |
Re: Java 7 Lauches On 7/7 (7th July) by Fayimora(m): 11:51am On Jul 20, 2011 |
Naaa dat comes in 8 but you might gain from the new invokedynamic feature |
Re: Java 7 Lauches On 7/7 (7th July) by scottN(m): 12:53pm On Jul 20, 2011 |
Still pretty very much low level from a business pt of view. I think I'll wait for 8 and stick to Java. Though I'm still trying 2 give SCALA a chance cos it's has a lot of prospects but it's still not mature for the enterprise world.(IMHO) |
Re: Java 7 Lauches On 7/7 (7th July) by candylips(m): 2:24pm On Jul 20, 2011 |
scottN: your opinion is wrong. we have scala code running monte-carlo simulations without any issues |
Re: Java 7 Lauches On 7/7 (7th July) by Fayimora(m): 3:45pm On Jul 20, 2011 |
scottN: Twitter is moving a lot of resources to scala:d |
