1. Most Christians are poor because they proclaim with their mouths that they believe but with their mind, body and soul, they refuse to submit to and obey the teachings( and commandments)of Jesus Christ, the one who promised them that if they abandon it all for His sake, He will reward them.

2. Jesus Christ never asked men to go on starvation diets they call "fasting" in His name.He didn't command His followers to attend what they called church services nor do night visits in His name. Nor did He command men to praise Mary in his name. What men do in the name of Jesus Christ are far from that which was commanded by Jesus Christ. So as long as they wallow in ignorance, they benefit nothing from God.
