That is why restructuring is the answer to this country...if each states build their own refinery it will be cheaper and easier to build because you are building a smaller refinery that will serve that particular state.with a few population....but when you are building a refinery for a whole country like nigeria with a population of more than 200 million nigerians ..it will cost a lot of money take a lot of time to build because you have to build a very large gigantic refinery to serve the whole country nigeria... that is why dangote refinery is taking more longer to build ... now it's up to 10 years this refinery this refinery was started to build till now it's still not yet completed
What is stopping the states from building the refineries now? That thing stopping the states from building refineries today will still stop the states from building refineries even if Nigeria splits to 36 countries.

This is something the next president will sing about until the administration will over like this.

American cooperation can buy it and make it work within 9 months but only if Nigeria will allow them sell for specific amount per litter.
Go sell your papa properties(if he has any) to Anerican corporation

If you understand the economic impacts of that refinery to Nigeria and west Africa at large , you will be tempted to assume some powerful figures from the west are lobbying Dangote not to complete the refinery.

Summary:

Dangote has liquidity issues and there are cost overruns

Fitch is also concerned with the key man risk. What happens if Dangote dies suddenly? The organization is not properly structured to function without the key man "Mr Aliko"
That's a big problem, he should look deeply into that aspect of his conglomerate, if Dangote Group is well structured, his enterprise will run in his absence effectively. if Bill Gates should pass on today (God forbid), he already has a good structure on ground that will keep Microsoft running. Apple Inc is running effectively till today because Steve Jobs ensured he built a solid organizational structure before his demise. In fact by now, Dangote has no business sitting atop Dangote Group's board. Bill Gates was the chairman of Microsoft's board for a year, he resigned and left the job for capable hands. What Dangote needs is to build a strong, committed and loyal team into a solid organizational structure.

The topic already tells you where the story will end.
I didn't even read more than the first paragraph before I knew the author of the article wanted Alh Dangote to sell part of his conglomerate.
Dangote is about to cripple a lot of business for the Europeans and their lackeys so I expect them to fight back bitterly.
The part of poor corporate structure of Dangote holdings is very laughable, at least Dangote even has a structure,I'm sure Elon Musk doesn't have any semblance of corporate structure with the way he runs his business.
People especially foreigners are not happy with Dangote total domination of the cement factory in Nigeria and some parts of Africa, now he will have the same total domination over oil and gas, especially in Sub-saharan African, that's a threat to a lot of global financial institution.
And finally his CEO made another statement that sent gitters down the spine of many parasitic companies and countries fleecing Africa,Dangote is moving into the steel sector, I expect the fight back to get more dangerous and bitter in the coming months.
God bless Alh Dangote
God bless Nigeria.

You're enlightened. Personally, I'll be amazed if the project sucseeds meaningfully. We have too many enemies, African nations among them.

How much is the refinery worth; $19 billion

How much is dangote worth;
$13 billion

So how will his worth go up to $100 billion

Maximum his networth will be $35 billion after the refinery completes

Not me, I quoted someone, and it's in the write-up, if you take your time to read it. It was said by Fitch, and it's an international body if am not mistaken.

Besides, when experts in the area of organizational structure affirms such, I think what the owner of the company should do is look inwards and strategize. Don't forget, there's always room for improvement in anything one's done or going to do. What works yesterday may no longer work perfectly today. if he has solid structure, it's his gain not mine.

What I want is a better Dangote Group that can compete with any organization around the globe even after he's gone, at least Nigeria can be known for one good thing in a life time, and not all these ugly news about Nigeria every time.

Yar'Adua had a reason he revoke the sale of one of our refinary to Dangote returned it back to the government.
He knew something we don't know

Yar Adua knew nothing ...he was nothing but a fool and allowed emotions play him.
Don't be cynical...

Selling portharcourt refinery would have saved Nigerians alot of tears especially in forex
..
Today we are spending 37% of out total forex reserves just to import only fuel and petrochemicals

Obasanjo sold Obajana cement plant
.note there was no single Factory there, gboko cement plant to dangote ...dangote gave contracts to Julius berger to expand the Obajana cement plant to become the largest cement plant in Africa...gboko cement plant alone now produces more cement than lafarge total capacity in it two plants in Ogun state...

When Yar adua refused to sell the refineries and left it to die... Dangote went ahead to source for lands for a new refinery...Delta,ondo and Ogun state refused to sell lands to Dangote...
What sensible thing did dey see..

Lagos state came to the rescue..and see what is happening in ibeju lekki...if Dangote goes back to request for lands in those state ...now tell me after they have seen what he is doing...will they reject him again?.

Nigeria has 4 dead refineries with a combined capacity of 445,000ba/day... Yar adua refused to sell the plants to a potential buyer that can transform it...so now that Yar adua left the plants in government hands...ask urself .how are they performing today...
Go to Abuja and see people struggling for fuel..

Airlines can no longer cope because of the high cost of A1 fuel caused by marketers who IMPORT the product

Assuming Dangote decided to forget about investing in oil and gas...do you think Nigeria can fully build a new refinery on it own...even if u put peter obi as president..

The plant is nearly completion and some shitty western media wants to come and talk nonsense
Black people are daft

The report looks unprofessional. Some of the details appear unnecessary and too personal. Reads like a personal attack.

It is common for such complex construction projects to experience cost overrun and delays.

1. HSE rail project UK - going to cost over $130 billion, nearly 3 times the original estimate. UK govt is now reducing the distance of the rail in order to bring down the overall cost. And that's a government funded project.

2. Berlin's BER airport GERMANY - Was due to open in 2012. Just before its opening, inspectors found nearly 120,000 defects. It took another 10 years to correct the errors. It finally opened last year, nearly 10 years later. And Germans are supposed to be excellent engineers. Building an airport is not even half as complex as building what Dangote, a private individual, is trying to build in Lagos.

Dangote's project is monumental. He deserves recognition and indeed support for his courage in taking on this project.

Those two examples are government projects that are usually riddled with incompetent government works and corruption. You should use an example such as Elon Musk Giga factories that were completed ahead of schedule.

If Nigeria is going to succeed then it must encourage excellence and professionalism.
