Please stop being bitter. A lot of people are bitter like this but truth is you cant stop some people from being successful. It is just not possible. Instead you can learn from them.

When I started out as a youth corper in 2015 I got a software engineering job from an organization that really wanted to hire me but were constrained because I did not have the NYSC certificate. To get a hold of me they offered me a consultancy position from which I was making some good money. I was attending meetings with them at OEM offices, bank HQs and also designing/implementing some of their software products which they were selling to banks.

The funny thing was that I had a friend who was a civil servant and told me that I was now in Nigeria & advised me to forget all that software non-sense. That he can't even give out his daughter to any man that builds websites for a living. I tried to explain the difference between software applications and websites/webpages. He told me that any job outside the federal government is rubbish.

By my second month as a youth corper I had furnished my apartment fully. As a 23 year old with no responsibility I use to go to accra or abuja for some weekends from Lagos and also went on vacation to Barcelona during my service year. A lot of family members were questioning my source of income. Two weeks after completing NYSC the company I was consulting for made me an offer for a fulltime position & I paid down 3.5M for a car. I had been saving all through but wanted to be sure that they'll make me a fulltime offer before doing some things. Tongues were still all over the place. The friend that rubbished my profession was now also borrowing money from me. Family members were also gossiping all over the place.

I eventually left my first employer to one of his clients who poached me for some better pay/working condition. While working as a software engineer at my new place I went out of my way to learn new technologies that weren't even in use in Nigeria. With that I was able to land remote jobs after two years & as the naira got devalued my income improved because I was earning euros from a company in Malta and later Germany.

I got fed up with being in Nigeria and applied for the Canadian PR through express entry and was selected to apply for permanent residence. I eventually got the application approved, bought a Canadian number online and started applying for jobs from my home in Lagos. I was using the number I bought to communicate with employers. I got a software engineering job, accepted it and landed in Canada a few days before the job start date. Even in Canada some Nigerians I know were angry that I just landed and started working in my field four days after when they have been here for months without a job.

The bottom-line of this my short writing is that some people need to position themselves better and not accept anything they are told. I was told I have to teach in a school as a youth corper. I was also told by family members that most people that got jobs recently in the family were assisted by this particular uncle who was well connected & I should get close to him so he will help me. I was also told that I couldn't get a job paying me more than 20k during my service year. I was told I couldn't get a remote job in Europe as a Nigerian. I was told I wouldn't be able to get permanent residency in canada easily. I was told nobody will give me a job if I was outside canada. I was told so many things but I always felt I was greater than what people thought about me so it is not my fault that they are angry. They just lack the confidence and information at my disposal to take them out of the shell.

I encourage you to focus on your race and stop getting annoyed over another man's journey

If you continue with your bitterness and this kind of mindset ,you will remain poor for the rest of your life.I have a brother like that who graduated from the UI ,Infact he was the best graduating student in his department in 1995 and till date nothing and still hoping.
So calm down your nerves and humble yourself else your condition will remain the same if not worse .A word is enough for the wise!

The bottom line is that op is seriously pained, but he forgot that life doesn't revolves round him alone.

How comes pple success is pain to you, okay you tot you should have archive beta and be more famous than the young bois you mentioned. Look, give your life to Christ and stop being pained, it might be what is taunting him until now. You can tap into their success by law of attraction, jus because they are young doesn't mean they can't do or be beta more than you.

Life nah turn after turn, get read of your toxic nature and see your dreams come alive or remain toxic and be pained till death. You already have a choice to make, tell me what your disciplines are, if so I can be of help.

Selah.

The moment you're happy with successful people and appreciate their little wins is the day your fulfilment comes.

You can't attract what you hate!

If I know you and close to you I would start avoiding you like Boko haram.

Bro.
I don't know you, but I understand how you feel.

My advice for you is to stop dwelling on those kinds of thoughts and occupy your mind with ways to better yourself. Forget about that 20 year old poozer riding a shiny Lexus. You don't wanna hear his story at times, trust me.

If you continue on this part, two things would happen to you at the same time or separately:

You will suffer from emotional breakdown out of jealousy and live the rest of your days as a miserable person no one wants.

You will snap one day and do something extremely foolish, something that would either send u to ur early grave, or to prison for a long time or the rest of your life.

Cheers.

I do not think Op is that bitter, he just put it the wrong way. Otherwise parents would be seen as jealous of their children.

We always pray that those coming behind us would be greater than us.

On the other hand, I think theses Youths have been robbed of their future. You cannot use the lucky few as example of Youth success. What you probably mean are the Youths with connections. It does not depend mostly on merits like your days.

Just think about what the lucky Youths spend their money on, you will pity them. Their money comes fast, they spend fast and go broke once they loose their connections.

Even in Western countries where there are still opportunities, minority children still languish after graduation. There is no way you can compare minimum wage in the days of their parents to minimum wage now. Those that make good money still have problem buying houses in Nigeria or overseas.

Yes, you may envy them, it is part of all of us but please do not be jealous. Just pray that they use the money judiciously. Think about the percentage of them that are that lucky compared to your time.

Exactly, I understand the OP.

Some people are very fortunate very early in life, but life is a marathon and not a sprint.

I had similar experience, I got a good job quite late but there is time for catching up and even overtaking is allowed.

Bitterness is a disease.

I strongly recommend that you consider humbling yourself and stop being broke and proud. We are no longer in the agrarian societies where wealth and wisdom come with age.

Because bitterness has the capacity to bind and blind, you won't be able to see and loosen up towards those who can be of help to your destiny, simply because you think they don't deserve any better.

It's not your world. It's everyone's and it doesn't matter who gets it first, it goes round if we are around for some time.
This is why most of you in Africa suffer from mental health, his case may not be about bitterness but of frustration and that behavior can be suicidal too, the only thing he needs is help and someone to console him letting him know it’s just fine and he had to keep pushing. Throwing him under the bus won’t earn you a living or help him too.
So many people go through his predicament and it takes someone with so much courage to speak up.

@OP, this things happen, even with a rich person, there is always some sort of comparison somewhere and that will certainly get them uncomfortable not knowing that contentment is a way to live a comfortable life. My advice to you is to keep pushing, your life can change at any moment(I’m a living example), it’s ok to envy others but just understand that you are way better than millions out there.
Put your head up, think less and work more and hopefully your situation changes soon.

You are not bitter, you are just uncomfortable with your situation and that’s ok, hopefully things will work out for you soon if you refuse to do something that can destroy you because you are desperate. Take it one step at a time and hopefully you will reap soon. Don’t compare…you are better than a lot of people out there

I find this your story very funny.

The truth is that all these small boys will continue to oppress their elders with their quickly acquired wealth.

And there's nothing you can do about that apart from accepting it as the status quo.

Even lecturers in some tertiary institutions were so oppressed by these young boys that they had to ban students from using flashy cars within the school premises.

So my advice for you is just to mind your own business and if pride go fit allow you, you can ask these young bloods for connect.

Imagine, I had to go for house hunting last week and we had to wait for the owner of the compound, he arrived a young man expecting me to greet him first. I just called the agent I wasn't interested.. somebody that can't drag age with my youngest brother.
My advice na person wey pass u pass u.forget the age thing, its irrelevant.Hes ur landlord,u hav to greet him.

Its normal feeling but curtail it. Many must lose in life and many must win.

1. Avoid meeting them
2. Avoid the interest to become rich
3. Have a unique hobby
4. Trust God but wait for his time
5. The opportunity is still there, it just not your time yet
6. Never guage your life with theirs
7. Start helping others who are lesser than u.
8. Always be happy
