But all those Ezemmuo, cultist and babalawo end up in the church or are delivered by a pastor or Rev Father before the end of the movie.

Thanks, I agree with you.

Tell them the meanings of Ezemmuo and Babalawo. Many Nigerian movies have ezemmuo and babalawo. Nigerian movies also have young boys who join cult and fight to kill. Are those ones Christians in the movies?

To confirm that most of the movies are done by Christian, they end with this statement “To God be the Glory”

Do South Africans waste their precious time on those rubbish Ariria and idumota movies?

Actually, the entire black diaspora loves and patronises Nollywood movies, from South Africa to Jamaica, and from Barbados to the United States, the Bahamas, Trinidad, Ghana, Kenya, and Sierra Leone, among others.

You only need to go on Youtube to see the thousands of comments from around the world for each movie.

So your interest is not needed.

I hope in your Yoruba culture you have Igwe, Eze, lolo, which Nollywood movie have you seen Oba, Alafin, Emir, the fact it is produced in Lagos does not change the culture it is built around, between Lagos is no man's land
Honestly, you're obviously not saying the truth or u don't know what you're saying. Firstly, either it's Yoruba, Igbo or Hausa movie, they're all called Nollywood. The ones you categorized as Igbo inclined is the Igbo version of Nollywood.

Yoruba dominate Nollywood. Infact, they speak Yoruba in English Nollywood than any other language, even the Igbos in the movies try to feel among by speaking Yoruba or have you seen any Yoruba actor forcing himself to speak Igbo? Don't you know that the fact that Nollywood is centralized around Lagos boost the Yoruba chance of dominating it? Likewise the music industry and other industries too.
Standard Nollywood movies that are produced in Lagos are Yoruba inclined not the Asaba ones.

Go check Nollywood cinema movies , most of them are more Yoruba inclined filled mostly with Yoruba actors. Do you know Kunle Afolayan? He's the most successful director that directs top notch and fantastic movies that are internationally-recognized and most of those movies display Yoruba culture.

If you doubt me, go and check Netflix and do survey of all the movies there only if you'll be sincere with your outcome.

Lol, do Muslims too don't believe in God or what are you saying. Muslims lifestyle doesn't reflect in their actions especially southern Muslims. If you see an average Yoruba Muslim, you won't be able to see any specific reflection of him being a Muslim physically if you've not engaged him yet.

If it makes you feel better, okay lol, I have told you the very truth, the fact America produce more grossing movies doesn't make Hollywood bigger than Bollywood, no one is asking who is producing more grossing movie, for every one Yoruba Nollywood star there are five Igbos

Does being in Lagos mean that Igbos are not in control of Alaba, Oga Igbos own Nollywood and more movies are produced daily portraying Igbo culture, believe it or not, a tree does not make a forest. The Nollywood as we know today portrays Igbo culture and city life, and more Igbos feature in the movie industry than any other nationalities take it to the bank Nollywood is Igbo

But first, do you accept that most movies produced in Lagos are Yoruba inclined as opposed what you said?
Also, you cannot tell me that Bollywood is bigger than Hollywood. American movies travel far and wide all over the world than Bollywood even with their population.
What's the essence of making substandard movies and classifying them as movies. How many people watch Asaba movies. Even at that, Yoruba Nollywood too produces tonnes of movies.

Nollywood is not Igbo. Let me tell you a bitter truth. A standard movie produced in Yoruba would earn more audience than another standard one produced in Igbo. Yoruba owns Nollywood, Yoruba makes it fruitful , we make it 'tussh' and honourable and we have the audience to make any movie sells faster, so we own Nollywood

It will take Yoruba 1000 years to dream of catching up on successes recorded by Igbo in nollywood. I do not need to engage into silly arguments with you. search about the NMVCB data on movies produced in the country and you see your true standing.

Mr Thomas said that the report put Lagos State with the highest number of movies produced for the period under review with 179, while Abuja followed with 164 movies and Onitsha is behind with 121 movies.

He said that the analysis by censorship location further shows that Kano had 42, Port Harcourt 26, while Jos and Benin recorded six and three movies respectively for the period under review.
https://dailynigerian.com/nollywood-produced-movies/

While lagos usually take the first position, it is always by Abuja or Onitsha that comes second. Also worthy of note is while movies produced in Onitsha and elsewhere in the East are almost exclusively Igbo, movies produced in lagos are dominated by Igbos and independent Media companies such as multi choice and Iroko before yoruba producers. I can assure you even the cinema movies you banter words about, although occupy about 10% of the total movie volume, is still Igbo dominated, except yorubas are naturally 'loud'. I know about Izu Ojukwu, Obi Emelonye etc doing well there. Instead of arguing, pay more attention to 'executive producer' part while watching movies.

I just saw an Islamic "ruling on watching films" on the front page this morning. And according to that ruling, it is wrong to watch films cause the contents are lies and they normally play music in the background. It makes sense why they might not be well represented in such an industry.

But Kannywood is the first film industry in Nigeria. Movies were first shot in Northern Nigeria before the creation of Nollywood or any Southern film industry.

AMVCA is just a ceremony multichoice use to promote their brand. African magic epic is the main movie channel of africa magic.it has more viewers than the other AM channels put together, and you know who 'owns' it. the actors there are more know and could care less about the awards. ROK can also start their own viewers choice award and award- obsessed yorubas will be sure to fall head-over-heels for it.

According to Nigeria stats 50 percent of population is Christian and 50 percent of the population is Muslim, but in Nigeria movies everyone is Christian.
Wrong fact. Even on Nairaland we know there are Christians, Muslims, atheists and traditional worshippers.

South Africans are asking why Muslim are not appearing in Nollywood movies?
They appear in a few movies. The Hausa Africa Magic films do not go into the characters religions, though one can surmise they are Muslim from everyday sayings like 'insha allah.'

Where are the atheists? That is my question. I'm shocked our movies haven't evolved further to feature those. Traditional worshippers are vilified in our movies. Then again most are uneducated so can't come to the defence of their beliefs.

Well the movies that get the most international popularity are in English which are set in the South, which is why there is a perceived christian bias. Kannywood movies from largely muslim North tend to be in Hausa, so they will not get as much international spotlight. Movies in Yoruba, which can show both christians and muslims are more targeted towards a local audience.

I remember when they didn’t want to associate with Nollywood they said it was poorly made and instead they called themselves “Yoruba movie” and Hausa “kannywood”
Now they all want to claim Nollywood because it is getting recognition worldwide in Africa and among the black diaspora
If you probably asked the South African which Nigerian actors he knows,it would be Igbo actors like mr ibu, osofia, osita iheme,Genevieve nnaji etc

What's then the essence if it only portrays city life, well and if it doesn't matter that Igbo culture is being portrayed to this day, I believe tribalism won't let you see those, Peter Edochie, Yul Edochie and many more still have movies strongly rooted in Igbo culture,

I must even confess that Nollywood is more Igbotic today than it was 15 years back, during the times of Ramsey Noah, Jim Iyke, Emeka Ike Nollywood was more on campus life but today more moves displaying Igbo culture is cinemas, lagos life, Abuja life is not Yoruba culture and people like Funke Akindele, Aniola badmus don't represent Yoruba culture at all, or you haven't seen badmus act with queen Nwa okoye in Igbo cultural settings
