Those are varanids otherwise called monitor lizards and not iguanas.

they don't. Our people say "person go dey one place, another place go dey hungry am". The Caribbean's admire your lizard, you admire theirs that's the beauty of nature. The reason we have different race, it's for us to admire one another. The same reason we have different species of the same animals, over thousands in fact.

Each species is adapted to survive in it's environment.
This also includes skin or scale colour to adapt to the environment.

weather and diet probably...our environment here is very dry and dusty...you can see the same transformstion even on our skins....let a nigerian go to canada for six months and youll see the skin toned and freshened up
