Secondly, Nurses are not the least paid in Nigeria. They were, when the law couldn't decipher who is a University graduate Nurse and who is a RN Nurse. But it has been sorted out. They are on par with others.

Finally the X-ray technician didn't just start doing the job. Radiologist taught them.

Everything you know as a Radiographer was designed by a Radiologist. But they moved on to some other aspects that are important and left you guys with the basics.

In short, Nursing is a surer way to japa to UK and Australia, surer than radiography.

Lol...I am a 300l Radiography student...I think I am in the best position to give u analysis.
First a nurse wud and will always work under the supervision of a doctor i.e extremely subservant to doctors while Radiographers work with mutual respect and in some cases gives directive to doctors who basically know little or nothing about medical imaging
Secondly nurse cannot build or supervise a personal hospital or clinical center without being monitored by doctor while Radiographers can have his/her personal diagnostic as well as therapeutic (treatment) center without directives from doctor
Thirdly
The esteem of Radiographers are uncompairable that they are referred to as Oracle of Modern Medicine and eagle eye of modern MEDICINE while nurses are merely reference as clinical Messengers.
Fourtly evolution of Radiography is not even at it peak yet birthed 1898 and it will keep evolving with technology giving inclusion to accommodate other medical practice as technology evolve.
Fiftly nurse can only treat menial illnesses like maleria and typhoid and they cant diagnose....while radiographers is involved in tratement of malignant illnesses like cancer, infertility etc and they can diagnose (i.e they do diagnostic and therapeutic)
Sixtly, very few radiographers in Nigeria less than 10000 which kept the profession naturally immune to job competition with approximately automatic employment opportunity before or after graduation.
Let me not forget to add that with Radiography you can diversify into industrial Radiography that works in airports, oil companies and refinaries, Oceanography,veterinary hospitals etc...not the case with nursing

That argument would have been valid some few years back. When University graduate Nurses were not allowed to go for internship inorder to solidify their knowledge in Nursing.

Let me redirect your question can a radiation oncologist who is a doctor treat the cancer patient by himself either? If he can then he doesn't need to include a radiographer in the plan. What we are telling u is that radiographer are also involved in treatment of patients having direct contact and assessment of patients not only in cancers. The team draw the plans together from medical physicist to radiation nurse to radiographer to radiologist it is the Radiographers that do the direct administration and dose calculation for the period of treatment. The doctors are to monitor the recovery process of the patient nothing more because they are the one to affirm that the patient is now well and book him/her for follow uo visitations.

By the way u don't search Google and have exact situations in the hospital settings I am in the field and telling u what i see but rather u are busy arguing with Google proof....am just saying all this so that the guy that asked the question can have some insight to the course or better still visit the hospital b4 making decision.

Same with Radiography love. They can go on to specialise in ultrasonography, magnetic resonance imaging, radiograph interpretation, computed tomography, mammography, radiotherapy, nuclear medicine.

As for being in senior hospital administration, I agree nurses tend to have the upper hand here, but this advantage occurs mostly in government owned hospitals.

Bro I am not trying to belittle Nursing but the fact that you are trying to prove is wrong....have u been in a medical settings b4 ?do u even see how doctors shout on and question nurses? We enjoy mutual respect mbbs do radiological courses in 500l fact but they don't know any5thing in Radiography what dey have little idea on is Ultrasound the rest zero. I have them as room mates. U said as a nurse u can open hospital the truth is anybody can open hospital even if u are barber but u most employ a doctor to oversee ur hospital as a nurse u ll report to him if not you will be penalized....this is not possible in radio-diagnostic or radiotherapeutic center. Quite alright u can seek the expertise of a doctor because medical field is a chain but he can't oversee ur center

We have diagnostic Radiography and therapeutic Radiography which we undergo courses on from 300level to 500l how to calculate the BED admiistration(biological effective dose) and management of the patient no radiologist (doctor) is licensed to administer this radiation dose or else he will be prosecuted his own job is to monitor the recovery processes.

Doctors cannot shout and question nurses. What kind of talk is that lol. Except they are quack trained by doctors themselves not registered nurses

I am currently an Advanced Practioner Ultrasonographer in the UK, Which is a specialty under Radiography, i used to be a Radiographer before specialising in Ultrasound, where i was sponsored by my current hospital for post graduate course in Ultrasound, which has elevated me to 2 steps higher banding(from band 5 to 7).
From my experience here the work load for nurses is very demanding, with limited opportunities to progress to band 6 and 7. A Radiographer work load is not as demanding and you can upgrade to a CT,MRI, PET scan Radiographer and Sonographer.

They are both professional courses but if you are aiming to practice in Nigeria go for radiography because most of them combines the practice with medical laboratory in terms of private practice and they make it big but if you want to leave the country better go for nursing. They make it bigger out there. I'm telling you with experience. I have a private medical laboratory but currently studying medicine and surgery. Most guys with well equipped radiology and medical laboratories are big boys Nigeria. Most of them make up to 2 to 3 million a month.

With your experience and exposure,which of them will you prefer for A guy cause Nursing tends to evolve around females.

Are you saying MRI is basic?
Show me a doctor that can work with CT, linac....what doctors know in radiology Dept is ultrasound and maybe fluoroscopy they don't even know the intricate physics behind it but usage in the special examinations like ivu, ultrasound guided biopsy etc.
