This looks interesting. OP please keep us posted on how this unfolds. I'd really like to know how the system would be designed to properly measure consumption from Generator. Do the buildings have a separate supply line for gen? Do the tenants have to changeover to gen at the various units or is it centralised?

The bolded na wetin dey weak me for Nigerians I swear. Always hoard information like say na dem first develop solution. Nice and interesting project like this and everyone dey form "chat me up".

A project like this will be expensive as it will include the need for extra hardware for the meter. And proper system design to ensure that the meter is only billing when gen is on. No one is even asking technical questions whether this is a single-phase or three-phase setup. Na just chat me, chat me full everywhere.

Abeg OP, for the sake of learning I would really like to know what all these "chat me" folks are offering. Make person dey learn.

From my own point of view, I think this case is more of electrical engineering work and less computer programming.

I'll advise you to consult specialist in electrical and electronics, and they also have knowledge in programming too

I'm a final year student in physics electronics. I'm the best IT student in my department so far so my Prof directed me last year to a company where I did my 6 month siwest as an information systems engineer.

Pic microcontrollers, Arduino uno and nodemcu are chips have written code on. I'm not even taking the project because it's time consuming.

I didn't even read the topic well b4 replying. What you need is an IT guy or facility guy that would go round the estate and take reading from the meter every 2 weeks like NEPA.

After taking the readings he will return to his office and make an excel sheet report on the consumption.

Then the generator reading will be taking also and calculation on how long the Jen serves per day should be taken note of .

Then you can now estimate the money spent in fuel and share the bills base on each resident consumption.

I worked in the IT department at consollimited last year. We take generator reading everyday and we don't need extra software to do anything when excel sheet is available
