With this mindset, Nigerians are still clamouring for a better Country. The truth is Nigeria will never get better, untit we change.

For now terrorism is still a childs play compared to the bigger tsunami that will hit this country.

People like this guy are less than 1% in Nigeria.

That's how far the country is to development.

I got a storekeeper job in a private company sometimes back, through referral. The pay was about #70k.

I couldn't take the job because I was plain told I have to corporate with others for their shady deals to scale through on the job, which eventually will earn me much more than the salary.

My brother is the same trend everywhere. Your story is almost exactly the thing I experienced at a government-owned hospital in Benue during my NYSC year.

I have always maintained that these civil servant are the major players contributors of corruption in this country.
Corruption cannot effectively take place without a civil servant

A Governor was not re-elected in office in the south west. His crime;
He checked the excesses of the civil servants, prevented fund leakages and was strict with accountability of Public funds.

An accountant who retired two years ago told me this point blank.

Pandev:
Many people don't know that it is impossible for politicians to steal money without the knowledge of the civil servants in the various ministries. But only politicians names are on people's lips. We are all the same after all

Loool it used to be like that in Lagos State owned hospitals back then ( that was when they write receipt by hand) when I did my IT in one of their lab until the govt intervened, now I doubt you can steal shishi from the system.

Blood bank was where the money was, I think it was 3,500 per bag back then. The state should get a unified payment method across all their hospitals. Technology has made things easier now.

The problem with Nigeria is neither the President, nor the politicians.

The problem with Nigeria is that one way or the other, every Nigerian is Wicked, Selfish, and a dishonest Criminal.

ATEAMS:
If you reason instead of repeating what is taught you; if you analyze the law and strip off those cloudy fictions with which it has been draped in order to conceal its real origin, which is the right of the stronger, and its substance, which has ever been the consecration of all the tyrannies handed down to mankind through its long and bloody history; when you have comprehended this, your contempt for the law will be profound indeed. You will understand that to remain the servant of the written law is to place yourself every day in opposition to the law of conscience, and to make a bargain on the wrong side; and, since this struggle cannot go on forever, you will either silence your conscience and become a scoundrel, or you will break with tradition, and you will work with us for the utter destruction of all this injustice, economic, social and political.

Please whose quote is this?

At least the guy still has a conscience. He can still thrive in a corruption free environment. Now let's talk about those who sleeps, eats and live corruption. If corruption was absent a place, they will create it

The hospital is supposed to have a finance department that takes care of payments

Yesterday I was to go for a test , but I first paid at the finance department of the general hospital.

It was the receipt and the test description slip I gave the lab scientist and everything was done appropriately.

The hospital management isn't serious, they should have been able to fix this mess already

Only the fear of God can help us get things right in this country
You're so right. I went to a state hospital, no one else can collect any cash from you for any reason than the state IRS there. You must pay to the state IRS staffs that's there and you get a receipt for it then you take it to wherever you wanna take it. Well organized. No one can steal any money because you're not paying in cash to anyone. A case study of Kwara State University where you're not gonna pay for anything in CASH. All payments already summed up, and you pay all at once then you start printing out any receipts you need, no other payment aside the one you pay once ONLINE. Average Nigerians are more corrupt minded than our so called politicians but they not there that's why they are condemning it. So bad and sad.

Most NYSC corpers are trying.
There is serious corruption in NYSC; it is the truth.

Imagine some local government inspectors(LI) of NYSC are womanizers and homosexuals and lesbians. When they see a male or female corpers, the Local Inspector (LI) will begin ask her or him for sex and when they refuse, the Local inspector(LI) will begin to threaten the NYSC corper that he or she will never be cleared during NYSC monthly clearance for corpers; only NYSC corpers that know their rights, will not agree with the Local Inspector (LI) and such corpers will reports the LI to state coordinator of NYSC. Why the weak NYSC corpers that don't know their rights will be a victim to this stupid NYSC Local Inspectors (LI) ( the same evil things still happen in some PPA were NYSC corpers are posted to)

Few Corpers are the only ones who will speak out against such evils while others corpers are mute thereby allowing the continuation such violations of the fundamentals human rights of NYSC corpers during their service.

The State Health Management Board can solve this problem if they so wish. They only need a payment system that ensures that receipts are tendered before tests and treatments. I don't think it's possible to steal so glaringly in Lagos state hospitals. It seems that they have a centralised payment system in place.
Same with some Teaching Hospitals.

I have said it severally, we would change several government officials but until we are ready to change as a nation, the situation will remain the same. The people we call government/corrupt officials today were once among the ordinary people on the street. They learn what they are practicing today not when they get to the office but before they get to the office.
A man who is trusted with 10 thousand naira students contribution but is only able to provide 9,000 when the students need the money and a man trusted with 100 billion naira government(public) fund but only able to account for 90 billion naira commit the same level of crime mathematically, It's a matter of missing 10% in both cases and nothing more
