The Continuous Onslaught Of The Bassa People And What The Government Should Do by Geeflow(m): 8:35am On Sep 02, 2022
In December 2016 an attack was carried out in KPANCHE. KPANCHE is a one hundred percent community of the Bassa people. The attack lead to the gruesome killings off many people, as well the destruction of properties worth millions of Nairas.

With the prompt intervention of the government then by providing securities the attack didn’t tarry. Though, their mission was achieved before the aid of the security men.

On 22nd April, 2018 another gruesome attack was lunched in the same KPANCHE. This time around the bloodsheds, cold slaughter and lost of properties were immeasurable as no one thought the escaped people would be able to regain consciousness from the deadly experience.

Half of the people who escaped the attack have relocated to other towns and outside Bassa Local Government for the fear of further attacks.

The rebirth of the 22nd April attack in Kpanche laid a thread of continuous attacks of the Bassa people through 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022 and still on.
Among the five wards of the Bassa (Kwomu) people non has been left untouched. It has been killing, burning of people alive and raising of buildings and properties down with fire.

They attackers who have been believed to be the EGBURAS, yes, I said the Egburas because aftermath of every attack they will come online on social medias to make mockery of the Bassa people by posting the slaughtered or butchered people and destroyed properties images. They have been since inception following THE SAME ROUTS (BIROKO, OZUGBE, OGBA AND MOZUM) to attack the innocent and peace loving Bassa people. Since then, the securities will usually report when the head has been cut off.

The only security the Bassa people have been enjoying from the government is a VERBAL ONE and the small efforts of the local vigilantes with hunters guns. Otherwise, security impacts has not been felt so far, if not, the lingering onslaught wouldn’t have excel till date.

The recent and fresh attack which took place in Sheria the commercial headquarters of the local government is what has left not only the inhabitants of the Local Government speechless but also people who truly know how centralized, busy and security accessable the town is. The attackers, just as they did in 2019 in the same Sheria came in large numbers and comfortably followed the main town road to burn people alive and as well shops and buildings belonging to individuals and Church, one after the other. As at the time of writing this, no commercial activity is going on in Sheria as no business center was left on burnt.
In this very attack the Army came and met the gunmen carrying out evil and inhuman acts but couldn’t interfere nor confront them. It looked the operation was carried out under their watch or guidance.

Do they Bassa people don’t deserve to LIVE?.

Daily, women are turned widows, men turn widowers and many children turn to orphans.

If the Bassa people have no one to speak for them, is the government not for all?. Is the government interested in the elimination of the Bassa people of Bassa Local Government?.
Is the government interested in keeping some races and watch while one is been extincted from the state?.
Are the Bassa people strangers in Kogi State that the government is showing less concern for them?.
Since the inception of the crises no single perpetrator of this evil and ungodly act has been brought to book despite knowing who they are.
The population of the Bassa people has been reduced from 100% to 60% including those who are killed and those who have flee the Local Government.

Since the people and the government knows the route of this perpetrators what is stoping the government from mounting SECURITY POSTS in the aforementioned routs?.

The government never want the people to arm and defend themselves and neither has it provided any good measure stop this vendetta.
If the government wants to be responsible in safeguarding the lives of the people of Bassa Local Government they should mount security posts in the aforementioned usual routes of the evil and demonic people.

The government through the security personnels should fetch these people and their sponsors out otherwise, there’s no end to the menace soon.

Many and uncountable peace meetings have been held both in the Local Government and State headquarters but yet the story remains the same and getting worse daily. Much as it use to be, anytime a security peace meeting is held an attack is usually underway. Yes, that’s how it has been. The science behind it is what we don’t know.

The Bassa people are tired. No peace of mind, no normal activities taking place in the Local Government again. Not even Schools are in good operations. If it is the wish of the government for the people to leave the Local Government it should be made known so that people will leave peacefully without endangering their lives.

If the government can’t defend the people it should then allow the people to arm and defend themselves otherwise it should provide a lasting measure especially in providing security posts to the aforementioned routes of the blood suckers.

Just like every human on earth deserves to live, the Bassa people also shares and have equal right to live.
