By order of Indian authorities, Binance froze $1.6 million worth of bitcoins withdrawn from the WazirX trading platform.

Law enforcement authorities reported that the digital assets belonged to the creator of the mobile investment app E-Nuggets, Aamir Khan, and his associates. After the attackers attracted a large number of investors, they deleted customer information from their servers and stole the assets of users.

To launder some of the money, Khan registered an account on the WazirX exchange with fictitious details, bought 77.62 BTC, and sent the coins to a Binance account. He laundered a total of $1.6 million in illicit proceeds.

As part of a special operation to catch the swindlers, the Indian police conducted searches, during which were confiscated over 2000 SIM cards, about 3000 bank cards, several laptops and 173 million rupees (920 million Naira).

Law enforcers detained five suspects in the fraud, but gang leader Aamir Khan could not be captured because he lives abroad.
