As much as I commend the laudable venture of Del-York International to bring the New York Film Academy to Nigeria to train film professionals, but the tuition fees of $3500 and $5000 a four week film workshop is too exorbitant in a poor country like Nigeria.

Are Del-York International and the New York Film Academy not ripping off Ignorant Nigerians?

"It’s prohibitively expensive, even though we do need the training. Give us half that price and we’ll get the same kind of specialized resource persons from Asia to provide the same training, " said Prof. Femi Shaka of the Department of Creative Arts, University of Port-Harcourt in Nigeria.

A Nigerian company, Magnus Media & Entertainment has launched a [more or less] FREE Training on Film Making that would involve top actors and actresses in Nigeria and stakeholders in the Industry.

It is also a four weekly programme. Participants are required to pay only N5,000 to make for registration and accreditation purposes and that is it! The bulk of the training cost is borne by the company and their co-sponsors.

The company has taken the project as their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to give back to the society and help in the growth of the country especially as regards to youth empowerment.

The programme package entails 4 weeks intensive training on Film Making and Production, Cinematography, Directing, Acting & Voice Modulation, Editing (Special Effects and 3D Effects), Scripting (Script Interpretation and Screenplay), The Art of Documentaries, How to Pass Auditions, Continuity and Film Production Management for youths who are willing to take up a career in the film making industry. Participants also have the opportunity to feature in two of our upcoming movie productions as a means of giving them a launch pad to stardom.

The coming edition of this programme is tagged, ‘LIVE YOUR DREAM’ and shall be held at the prestigious Airport Valley Resort, Abakaliki Road, Emene, Enugu, Enugu State. The programme shall move to different states subsequently.

Registration for this season is now open. Intending participants are required to register online on our website, http://www.magnusfilmacademy.com For further enquiries you can call 08032684423 or 08060965341 or follow us on Twitter @magnusfilmsng or join our Facebook Group, http://www./266282503389317/
