Wake/wake-keep/wake-keeping -- Which One Is Correct? by Emeritus1200: 7:53pm On Oct 11, 2022 |
Many people all over the world often use either “Wake-keep or Wake-Keeping” for a period of someone’s death before or after the burial of the body. However, both words are un-English; they aren’t correct. The correct English is Wake. Wake is the period of someone’s death before or after the body is buried or cremated. Wake-Keeping — Wrong Wake-keep — Wrong Wake — Right Example: The Christian wake of the old woman will be held on Thursday. https://www.emeritushub.com/wake-wake-keeping-wake-keep/ 2 Likes |
