Is The Bible A Reliable Source Of Truth ? by SeniorMan715(m): 11:54am On Oct 14, 2022
Throughout history, people from many backgrounds have considered the Bible to be a reliable source of truth. Today,
millions follow its teachings. Yet others dismiss the Bible as being irrelevant or fictitious.
What do you think? Can you find truth in the Bible?
Truthful Writers
Bible writers were very honest, often revealing their own mistakes and failings.
For example, the prophet Jonah wrote about his own disobedience. ( Jonah 1:1-3)
In fact, he concluded his Bible book by revealing how God chastised him, yet he made no mention of how he corrected his own attitude. ( Jonah 4:1, 4, 10, 11) The honesty of all the Bible writers indicates their sincere concern for truth.
Practical Truth
Does the Bible always give sound advice about practical matters? It certainly does. For example, note what the Bible says about maintaining healthy relationships: “All things, therefore, that you want men to do to you, you also must do to them.” ( Matthew 7:12) “A mild answer turns away rage, but a harsh word stirs up anger.” (Proverbs 15:1) Yes, Bible truths remain as practical today as the day they were written.
Historical Truth
Many archaeological discoveries over the years verify the existence of various peoples and places and the accuracy of events mentioned in the Bible. As an example, consider the evidence for one minor detail. The Bible states that in the time of Nehemiah, Tyrians (Phoenicians from Tyre) who lived in Jerusalem “were bringing in fish and all kinds of merchandise.”— Nehemiah 13:16.
Is there any evidence to support this Bible verse? Yes, there is.
Archaeologists have discovered Phoenician goods in Israel,
suggesting trade between the two ancient nations. Furthermore, in Jerusalem, the remains of Mediterranean fish have been unearthed. Archaeologists believe that the fish were brought from the distant coast by merchants. After analyzing the evidence, one scholar concluded: “The statement in Nehemiah] 13:16 that the Tyrians sold fish in Jerusalem is quite plausible.”
Scientific Truth
The Bible is primarily a religious and historical book. But when it touches on scientific matters, it
harmonizes with true science. Note one example.
About 3,500 years ago, the Bible stated that the earth is suspended “upon nothing.” ( Job 26:7) This differed greatly from the myths that described the earth as floating on water or being carried by a giant tortoise. Some 1,100 years after the book of Job was written, people continued to believe that the earth could not just hang in midair; it had to have something to rest upon. Only three hundred years ago, in 1687, Isaac Newton published his work on gravity and explained that the
earth is held in orbit by an invisible force. This scientific
milestone confirmed what the Bible had stated more than 3,000 years earlier!
Prophetic Truth
How accurate are the Bible’s many prophecies? Consider one example: Isaiah’s prophecy about the fall of Babylon.
The Prophecy: In the eighth century B.C.E., the Bible writer Isaiah declared that Babylon which was only later to become the capital of a powerful empire—would be overthrown and eventually become uninhabited. ( Isaiah 13:17-20) Isaiah even named the man who would carry this out Cyrus. He also described
Cyrus’ strategy, stating that rivers would “dry up.” And he foretold that the city gates would be left open.— Isaiah 44:27– 45:1.
The Fulfillment: Some 200 years after Isaiah’s prophecy, a Persian king attacked Babylon. His name? Cyrus. Because Babylon was heavily fortified, Cyrus turned his attention to the Euphrates River, which ran through the city. His men dug a canal upstream to divert the river into a marshland. This dropped the river level enough to make it possible for Cyrus’ army to march through the thigh-deep water of the riverbed,
which adjoined the city walls. Incredibly, the Babylonians had left the gates that faced the river open! Cyrus’ army entered Babylon through the open gates and overthrew it.
However, one detail remained: Did Babylon become uninhabited? For some centuries, people continued living there. But today, Babylon’s ruins near Baghdad, Iraq— testify to the prophecy’s complete fulfillment. Yes, the Bible is reliable even when it discusses future events.
IS THE BIBLE A RELIABLE SOURCE OF
TRUTH, YES
Those are only a few of numerous examples that have led many to consider the Bible to be not just
trustworthy but “just as it truthfully is, as the word of God.”— 1 Thessalonians 2:13.

Truth is, they know that the Bible says that which is True.

However, with that Truth, comes the raw Fear of God.

And because they are naturally anti-God as the Bible also pointed, therefore, the combination of their fear and anti-Godness makes them deceive themselves.

The Holy Spirit is the reliable source of truth.
He is the source of the truth. The Bible is a product which can be corrupted by errors and lies.
However, the source (Holy Spirit) can never be corrupted

1 John 2 v 26-27;
26 I am writing these things to you about those who are trying to lead you astray.
27 As for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone to teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about all things and as that anointing is real, not counterfeit—just as it has taught you, remain in him.

The bible was plagiarised from ancient Hebrew scripts. Those who gave you Christianity picked from various sources and added all into what you see as bible today. Many things their didn't favour them so they have to discard many things and choose the ones they want to appear on the book.

God knowing their plans sealed the true knowledge in it untill a certain time he gave. The lies were allowed to thrive until the age of truth. The book shall be unsealed by a Hebrew black Priest cos the knowledge and unsealings of the book was giving to only the ancient ppl (Isaiah 44:7) and they only can tell you. Even the true language of the book many don't know. God allowed this cos the whole truth shall be revealed when he gathers his ppl. The Time and time time given in the book of Revelation and Daniel is the code. Non know that time but we are close to it. The happening around that time will shake the world. Many of you Christians will see that you were decieved. Many of you will even partake in burning your churches or houses of falsehood cos all of them fell and know not the truth.

Though many things were added to the bible. The lessons there are true. You can read it and have a change of heart. Answers to many life's questions are there. Read the teachings of the Messiah and learn the truth there. Many stories there are ok. There are equally many wrong stories too. The true ppl of the book were cast out. Nothing was written about them. You need to discern when you read to know what is and what is not. We are to learn from it untill the Restoration when all that was hidden shall be revealed

There are ppl that have not read bible before but are holy and pure in heart than many Christians. God can't judge you with the book. Righteousness is what he demands. You only read to gain knowledge but the source of all knowledge is within you. The power to know what is right or wrong had been within you since creation even before their is anything written in books. You are free to take any action but know their are consequences for every action you take.

I read the bible you read. There are also other sacred books of truth. But know that all are not up to 50 percent truth. Read and tell your Chi, the light within you to teach and guide you. At the age of truth we are coming to shall all be revealed!

The Teachers are inspired of the Holy Spirit to teach the truth smiley

In the absence of that, rather it would be false teachers propagating corrupted truths to deceive many.

John the Baptist, Jesus, the Apostles, Jesus' blood brothers (James & Jude) never had kind words for false teachers.

I agree with you, Spirit filled and inspired teachers still have their roles to play in building and edifying the body of true believers!

You misconstrued it again!

Inspiration is not the same as teaching, when God inspires someone such a person only say or write what God inspired him to say it doesn't automatically quantify the inspired one to be a teacher.

The gifts differs and as for spirit filled teachers it doesn't mean they've become infallible, they are still imperfect humans so they can make mistakes in their teachings because the spirit guiding them will not utter a word unlike that of inspiration so while trying to decipher the truth of God's word with their imperfect minds errors may occur but then if they remain humble the spirit of God will correct them in meekness so that they will continue to bear the fruit of God's Holy Spirit! smiley

OkCornel:

NO! All Bible writers are inspired but not all are teachers, the gift of teaching began after pentecost when God anointed men with His holy Spirit after the world's most wonderful counselor of all time {Isaiah 9:6} established TEACHING of God's word! Matthew 28:20

But before then God only inspired men among the Israelites to tell them what they should do whether they understand or not they must do it or they will die. But after Jesus the spirit of teaching was released so that imperfect humans can teach their fellowman to the point of conviction! Act 26:28

So there's a big difference between one who is inspired and those giving the spirit of teaching! smiley

Not much of a difference. Everyone can be inspired but not everyone can teach. But definitely, no genuine teacher can teach without being filled and inspired by the Spirit of Truth.

That being said, the fruit of the spirit stands out for the genuine teachers, while the works of the flesh follows the false teachers.

Teaching doesn't necessarily including inspiration!
Young Timothy was an elder in the first century Christian congregation and a sound teacher of TRUTH {1Timothy 4:16} but he is not inspired, that's why he wrote no Bible book.
Some among Jesus' Apostles were inspired that is why they became part of Bible writers (Matthew, John, Peter, Paul) this are Apostles chosen by Jesus Christ {Luke 6:13-14; Romans 1:1} some of his disciples like Mark, Luke, James, Jude are inspired but not Apostles.

Jesus Christ commanded all his disciples to PREACH but then few will be given the spirit of teaching among them {Matthew 28:20} this are the ones TEACHING in the congregations {Hebrews 13:7, 17} but that doesn't mean all these teachers are inspired.

Inspiration ends when the Bible was complete {Revelations 22:18-19} otherwise the Bible should include the Qu'ran if inspiration never stopped {Galatians 1:8} that's why Paul said such supernatural gifts will cease {1Corinthians 13:8} so only love will help us to bear the mistakes of those taking the lead and continue trusting (believing) in their teachings {1Corinthians 13:7} because they continue producing the FRUIT expected of Christ's group! Matthew 7:16-18

It's the organization headed by spirit filled teachers that people will see their positive results globally just as Jesus said {Matthew 5:14-16} not each of them, today i'm in Nigeria i have never met any member of the Governing Body personally but i am seeing the positive effects of their teachings as their students here in Nigeria are doing everything in harmony with what God foretold in the Bible book of Isaiah 2:2-4; Micah 4:1-3

So even though they said they're not inspired i can say they're spirit filled teachers of God's word since their FRUITS are seen globally! Matthew 7:16-18
