Sorry bro, I'll suggest you take a sabbatical for like a year. Losing three dogs, haba. Just rest.

For a dog to die of tick fever, it means the ticks having been disturbing the dog for a very long time, don't you carry out physical inspections? When last did the dog had it's bath? You probably would have seen the tick infested furs.

Anyway, hard luck and like I said take a break.

sorry bro, amithrax could have cleared away the ticks… you should also clean your compound and bath your dog regularly. Tick fever no suppose dy carry Dog go. Like someone suggested, just take a break for a while from owning a dog.

Tick fever? I think you need a sabbatical from raising dogs. Before you go back to raising another dog, 1. Consider if you have the finances to vaccinate and treat unforeseen illnesses. 2. You need to consider a qualified VET whom you'll always seek guidance on how best to raise your dogs. 3. Consider the food you'll feed it. 4. You need to consider the breed you wanna raise. GSD is a fragile breed healthier. That's why I'm very careful with my boy Roman

You lost your dog to tick fever due to your lackadaisical attitude, there are lots of ticks control chemical you can get at the pet shop or agro-chemical shop,but you refuse getting them until it resulted into tick fever.

ehrlichiosis that's what it's called. its not about ticks being plenty, just one is enough to transmit the disease. However not all ticks causes ehrlichiosis, just one particular specie that is responsible. Not every dog react to heat fever same way, some with low immune system are more susceptible to develop symptoms like lose of appetite, depression, abnormal bleeding, epistaxis, etc and it kills within matter of days if treatment is not administered on time. I lost two GSdogs to ehrlichiosis, its not like they never experienced tick infestation on their body before but this time around it was different, all because i brought in an adolescent showline GSD not knowing she had this different kind on her and that was it. As of late, I've taken serious precautions in my kennel. Since i started breeding, i never knew their was a deadly kind of ticks till i experienced it first hand. Least i forget, ehrlichiosis kills GSDs more than any other breed.

Lost my first gsd dog to tick. When getting the second one. I decided to go for a dog with less hair so I can pick tick easily... Did tick picking, regularly bathing with tick soap and afterwards tick powder. All of these at best help manage the ticks, until I got a Special Tick Mixture and in just two days all ticks were gone not only from my dog but even it surroundings and my balcony.
