Well . . . you could say that Messi plays in a better team, yes. But that argument is slowly dwindling because of late, Messi has been the difference for Barcelona, even more than Xavi or Iniesta. Crucial games, especially against Cristiano's Madrid, have gone Barcelona's way simply because Messi made the difference.

In the Spanish Super Cup, Barcelona struggled against Madrid who were clearly in better form, but Messi's strikes swung the game in Barca's favour. Why did Ronaldo not rise to the occasion in those games? I'd even say that Ronaldo should be compared with the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and David Villa, cos they play the same way. All three players are not creators, they need to receive a pass in a good position to finish.

In as much as the Messi/Ronaldo debate seem never to die, I just hate the way ppl say Messi has done or won nothing with and for his country. Its a only a silly thing to say. Tell me, what has Cr7 done for his country? As we all know, he's won no trophies with Portugal. Messi won the under-20 And Olympic soccer gold with Argentina playing vital roles in both. He gave all the assist for Argentina's goals at the wc. To Argentina, he's not just Messi, he's there xavi, iniesta and messi put together. He's their football Messiah! And like most messiahs, he's not valued in his homeland.

Messi is God's gift to soccer in this world of technology. He makes footie look like eating suya or amala. He's pure genius. Barcelona is lucky to have him and not the other way round.

Messi has actually led the line in his national team, at cadet, junior, and Olympics levels. He has won a World Cup and an Olympics gold at those levels. Ronaldo has never won any competition with Portugal at any level.
Messi's time will come at the senior level. Just like Maradona, who was a misfit in the Albieceleste until he was handed the Captain's Armband in 1984, Messi is going through a rough time now with the national side. He will have his day, and he keeps showing how consistent he is as a player. I have no doubt he will attain glory with Argentina.

Ronaldo is a great player, definitely the strongest after Messi. But ironically, people are so busy with this Messi-Ronaldo comparisons, that they fail to look at Ronaldo's failings. He has been captain of Portugal for 2 years now, and has not been able to change the mentality in his side, or even lead them to any triumph of any kind. Even at club level, save for that one glorious season with United (a great side with character, just like Barca), he has not been able to show up in the games that really matter.
The era of Figo is still regarded as Portugal's glorious era. It's even hard to say Ronaldo is a better player than Figo was. In fact, I don't think so.

They didn't win anything. In the last 15 years, Nigeria has only won one international competition, the under 17 in 2007.
Mikel and Taiwo played against Messi twice, and lost.
