If you are a Nigerian living in Nigeria, you would agree with me that perfumes are a must-have in Nigeria. Perfumes are very essential in every aspect of the ever-buzzing Nigerian atmosphere. For example, if your job requires hard labour, you would need a certain type of perfume to help you smell better and fresh every day no matter the sweat or if you have to shuttle buses to and from work every day, sitting in-between people and sweaty armpits, you would need a perfume that would cling to your skin the way a conductor would cling to your shirt if you don’t pay him or maybe you don’t like to be caught unfresh so you just like smelling pleasant to feed your self-confidence.
Knowing the type of perfume to buy is just as important as wearing the perfume itself and you would also like to consider your preferences before getting one; your choice of fragrance, the shape and design of the bottle, the size of the bottle etc.
You would also agree with me that shopping for perfumes can be a little tiring, you would have to check and check until you get confused and to ease the stress of confusion, this post was made to help you with a rundown of different perfumes and why you should try them. But first, did you know that there are different types of perfumes? I bet you didn’t. so, let’s talk about the different types of perfumes briefly before we continue.

Perfumes are mainly of five different types based on their concentrations:
Parfum, Eau de Parfum, Eau de Cologne, Eau de Toilette and Eau Fraiche.

1. Parfum: when it comes to concentrations, perfumes have about 20 to 30% essential oils in the blends of fragrance which makes them the most expensive. It lasts longer and is recommended for people with sensitive skin.

2. Eau de Parfum: it has a concentration of about 15 to 20% oils, can last up to 6 to 8 hours and is less expensive than parfum. It is also recommended for sensitive skin.

3. Eau de Cologne: this has a concentration of about 2 to 4 % essential oils, can last up to 2 hours and is very affordable.

4. Eau de Toilette: it has about 5 to 15% concentration of oils, it is usually in spray bottles, can last up to 2-4 hours and is also very affordable.

5. Eau Fraiche: Eau Fraiche translates to ‘fresh water’ in French. Contains about 1 to 3% of essential oil, can last up to an hour and is usually used to smarten up.

Now, let’s get started with the list of perfumes every Nigerian should consider trying out.
