For a country whose population is bursting at the seams, 211.4 million and counting, the fact that some persons need to leave - to give way for others - is a no-brainer. Migration abroad is actually one of the main solutions to Nigeria's population and unemployment problems.

The persons relocating abroad are usually those who could afford it - people with well-paying jobs in Nigeria. Their relocation frees up these jobs for the teeming unemployed youths in the country. Massive efflux of persons also eases the pressure on our dilapidated public facilities - hospitals, schools, roads, etc.

Migration is necessary. Migration should be encouraged. That is why you hear Mr. Peter Obi saying that we should encourage people to leave. These individuals often move to better jobs and better living conditions and are in a better position to contribute to nation-building from the outside.

Majority of the persons in government today, persons heading parastatals once left the country in search of better education, global skills, world-class work experience and are back decades later, deploying all they have learnt.

Remittances from Nigerians in diaspora is key to keeping our dwindling economy afloat. How do we increase these remittances if we don't encourage people to leave and earn in hard currency? A lot of families in Nigeria are sustained mainly by the monies that a son or daughter abroad sends on monthly basis. This is migration helping to stamp out hunger and poverty.

I am an apostle of saving Nigeria from the outside. For most of us in the diaspora, Nigeria will always be home. We look at the myriad of problems and see countless opportunities to proffer working solutions. Solutions that can help pull our nation out of distress.

Migration will help us save Nigeria from the outside. ❤️
