Re: Blessing Okagbare, The 5th Fastest Woman In The World by ajileko: 1:16pm On Aug 30, 2011 |
Yes, we need to be happy and celebrate the 5th place without a doubt. Remember, we are talking 5th place in the world. NOT in Nigeria or Africa. Are any of you in the top 1000th in anything you do in Nigeria, we are not even talking about Africa. 1 Like |

As the nation is depreciating so are the minds of the average Nigerian. How dare you open a thread to tell us that a Nigeria did not come first, second, or third. You're telling us to rejoice that we scored fifth. Shame on you! |

This post is deceptive and misleading, anyone who reads this post will think Blessing Okagbare is actually the 5th fastest woman in the world. Athletics just like every other individual sport is based on rankings which are released periodically, I doubt if the present rankings suggest that she is the 5th fastest in the world. Anyone who has access to the present rankings can verify. |

Nigeria, a population of 150million, can't produce the fastest woman. We here celebrating 5TH. Why do African Americans and Caribbeans do much better than us in Athletics? Jamaica, with a population of just 3million has won more gold in Olympics and world championships than Nigeria with a population of 150million. The annoying bit is that these African-Americans and Caribbeans share the same ancestors with us, same genes, same everything, yet we far off from them in Athletics. |

Why fifth? Why not 1st or second? I urge her to work harder (no drugs please), so that come London 2012, she will step up to the first position. |

obo_man:you compare nigeria with those other countries who work hard to get adequate preperations for their athletes probably a year before a major tournament, who appoint round pegs in round hole who totally understand the in and out of good sportmanship to oversee their sporting parastatals administratively to nigeria wereby u find complete misfits eager to syphoon money allocated for sporting developments in the country into their personal bank accounts, square pegs in round hole etc.up blessing for her efforts wishing her better performance next time out. |
