Bringing the ongoing hostilities to a halt would only “ratify” Russia’s “conquest” of Ukrainian lands, John Kirby has said

Washington is firmly opposed to a ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine, US National Security Council spokesman John Kirby has said, branding any peace initiatives “unacceptable” in the current situation. The senior White House official made the remarks on Sunday in an interview with Fox News.

Kirby touched on the upcoming visit of Chinese President Xi Jinping to Moscow to meet his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, stating that should any peace initiatives come out of their meeting, Washington would reject them. (in other words, the US has to decide for Ukraine)

“What we have said before, and we’ll say it again today, that if coming out of this meeting, there’s some sort of call for a ceasefire, well, that’s just going to be unacceptable because all that’s going to do… is ratify Russian’s conquest to date,” Kirby stated.

Moscow and Beijing have been “increasing their cooperation and their relationship” lately, the official said, asserting that the two nations have joined to undermine and “rewrite” the so-called “rules of the game globally.”

Russia and China “are two countries that are chafing against this international rules-based order that the United States and so many of our allies and partners have built up, since the end of World War II,” he said.

Recently, China floated a 12-point roadmap for putting an end to the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, which has been raging for over a year already. China has taken a neutral stance on the hostilities, repeatedly urging both parties to show restraint and stick to diplomacy in order to find a resolution.

While the Chinese roadmap has been welcomed in Moscow, it has received a cold reception in the West. Multiple top officials have brushed off Beijing’s efforts to act as a mediator, accusing it of siding with Moscow. US President Joe Biden, for instance, openly questioned Beijing’s motives and voiced suspicion over Moscow’s reaction to it.

“Putin is applauding it, so how could it be any good?” the US president said shortly after the plan was unveiled.

West fueling conflict in Ukraine to retain its global dominance — Putin

Russian President Vladimir Putin wrote about this in his article for the Chinese newspaper People's Daily.

MOSCOW/BEIJING, March 20. /TASS/.

The West’s actions geared to ship up the conflict in Ukraine is another example of how the West is seeking to retain its global dominance, Russian President Vladimir Putin wrote in his article for China’s The People’s Daily.

The article was posted on the Kremlin website on Sunday.

"The crisis in Ukraine, which was provoked and is being diligently fuelled by the West, is the most striking, yet not the only, manifestation of its desire to retain its international dominance and preserve the unipolar world order," he stated.

The West reaction to a potential peace plan confirms this statement and vindicates President Putin.
Even if I wasn't pro Russian before, this would push me.

Zelensky should just say (to the West) give me more weapons or I'll accept a Chinese brokered peace deal (which will gravely embarrass the West).
The West is still licking the wounds of the succesful Iran-Saudi peace deal mediated by China...the war mongering West won't survive another blow.

I agree.

The thing is.
Whether Nazi Ukraine agrees to a peace deal or not...it doesn't affect China or the outcome of the SMO for Russia(the only loser here is Nazi Ukraine). But China will not fail for lack of trying (vis a vis peace negotiations/diplomacy). So, I applaud China's moves. They might actually reach a peace deal. They brokered a peace deal between Saudi Arabia and Iran...it was thought to be impossible.

EU Agrees on Ammunition Plan for Kiev Worth $2.1Bln, Reports Say

The European Union has agreed on the ammunition plan for Ukraine worth two billion euros ($2.1 billion), media reported on Monday, citing diplomats.
Brussels hosts a meeting of the EU Council of Foreign Ministers is taking place in Brussels on Monday.
Russia launched its special military operation in Ukraine in February 2022, after the Donetsk and Lugansk people’s republics appealed for help in defending themselves against Ukrainian provocations.

Western countries have been supplying Ukraine with various types of weapons systems, including air defense missiles, multiple launch rocket systems, tanks, self-propelled artillery and anti-aircraft guns since Russia launched its special military operation. In late January, Germany committed to sending 14 Leopard 2A6 tanks to Kiev, with other states announcing similar steps or promising to join the initiative. Moscow has continuously warned that sending more lethal aid to Kiev risks escalating the conflict and involving NATO in direct confrontation with Russia.
The Kremlin has repeatedly warned against arms deliveries that could further escalate hostilities, leading to the US and NATO's direct involvement in the conflict.

Stopping the ongoing genocide of the Ukrainian people is "Unacceptable".

My interpretation.
If there's any merit to the warrant issued by the ICC, then attempts to put a stop to the millitary activities that lead to that psuedo judicial action (warrant) shouldn't be unacceptable. The West doesn't care about the lives of Ukrainians..they're disposable and should be sacrificed on the altar of Western pride.

Or

At least one side accuses the other of committing genocide.
Diplomatic attempts to put a stop to the activities that lead to this genocide shouldn't be unacceptable.

EU nations agree to jointly buy weaponry for Ukraine

Member states have pledged to send a combined 1 million artillery shells to Kiev within the next 12 months.

Eighteen EU nations have agreed to tap their artillery stockpiles and jointly purchase more shells so they can provide 1 million rounds to Ukraine over the next 12 months.

The deal was finalized at a meeting of EU foreign and defense ministers on Monday. Ukraine’s Western allies are racing to ensure that Kiev has the munitions it needs to battle Russian forces after NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg warned last month that the conflict was consuming ammunition at a pace “many times higher than our current rate of production.”

“We are taking a key step toward delivering on our promises to provide Ukraine with more artillery ammunition,” EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell said on Monday. He added that the orders for 155-millimeter shells would be aggregated and fast-tracked through the EU Defence Agency.

The plan approved on Monday was based on Borrell’s proposal earlier this month to provide 1 billion euros ($1.07 billion) in EU financial incentives to nations that committed to tapping their ammunition inventories for Ukraine, as well as another 1 billion euros to help fund joint procurement of new shells.

Borrell claimed last month that Russian artillery forces were firing about 50,000 shells a day, and Ukraine didn’t have enough ammo to match Moscow’s firepower. “It is the most urgent issue,” he said at the time. “If we fail on that, the result of the war is in danger.”

Even if the nations that signed on to Monday’s agreement are able to deliver on their pledges – Estonian Defense Minister Hanno Pevkur told reporters in Brussels that “many, many details” aren’t yet resolved – 1 million rounds would last for only 20 days at the firing rate cited by Borrell. US officials have estimated that Ukraine is currently firing around 4,000 to 7,000 shells daily.

German politician Michael Gahler, a member of the European Parliament, called the deal to jointly buy ammo for Ukraine a “good, albeit late initiative.” He added, “We have lost time, too much time last year because the reality was that many member states, including my own, remained too passive for too long in spite of strong verbal commitments … We need to deliver to Ukraine as long as it takes for Ukraine to win, and we need to replenish our stocks in time, as soon as possible, in order to be able to defend ourselves.”

Russian officials have repeatedly cautioned that sending arms to Ukraine will prolong the bloodshed and risk escalation into a wider conflict.

Presidents Putin and Xi Jinping discussed China’s peace plan for Ukraine.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry in February published a document laying out its position on a political settlement of the crisis in Ukraine.

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping discussed China’s plan for the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine when they met one-on-one on Monday, Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Tuesday.

"That they have discussed it is obvious because they said they would," the spokesman said.

When asked if there’s any progress with that issue, Peskov said, "I won’t make any assessments. Let’s wait for the statements [by the leaders] for the news media [following the talks on Tuesday]."

The spokesman didn’t say if the issues of natural gas contracts, military-technical cooperation and others had been brought up at the meeting.

"The leaders will talk about this when they make their statements," Peskov said.

The Kremlin spokesman referred to the Defense Ministry the question whether the defense ministers of Russia and China will hold a separate meeting during Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to Russia.

"That’s something you need to ask the Russian Defense Ministry, as I’m not aware of this. I can only speak about the presidential agenda," he said.

The Chinese president is paying a state visit to Russia on March 20-22. On Monday he held a one-on-one meeting with Putin that lasted about 4 1/2 hours. Talks are scheduled to continue in the Kremlin after 3 pm on Tuesday. The leaders are expected to make statements for the press afterward.

China’s peace plan
The Chinese Foreign Ministry in February published a document laying out its position on a political settlement of the crisis in Ukraine. It includes 12 points, including calls for a ceasefire, respect for the legitimate security interests of all countries, the settlement of the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, the exchange of prisoners of war between Moscow and Kiev, and the rejection of unilateral sanctions without an authorization by the UN Security Council. The document described the talks as "the only way to resolve the crisis in Ukraine" and called on all sides to support Moscow and Kiev in "moving toward each other" and promptly resuming a direct dialogue. It urged the global community to create conditions and provide a platform for the resumption of talks.

China Reiterates Readiness to Play Constructive Role in Settlement of Ukraine Crisis

Chinese President Xi Jinping has confirmed to Russian President Vladimir Putin at a meeting in Moscow that Beijing is ready to continue playing a constructive role in promoting a political settlement of the Ukraine conflict, the Chinese Foreign Ministry said on Tuesday.

Xi arrived in Moscow on Monday for a three-day state visit at Putin's invitation to hold talks on further development of the bilateral comprehensive partnership, strategic interaction between Russia and China, and the Ukraine conflict. Upon his arrival in Moscow, the Chinese leader held an informal 4.5-hour meeting with Putin.

"China will continue to play a constructive role in promoting the political settlement of the Ukraine issue ... Russia has carefully studied China's position paper on the political settlement of the Ukraine issue and is open to talks for peace. Russia welcomes China to play a constructive role in this regard," the Chinese Foreign Ministry said in a statement, following the meeting in Moscow.

During the talks with Putin, Xi also noted that "voices for peace and rationality are building" around the world. Many countries support easing tensions, facilitating peace talks and are against escalating the situation by "adding fuel to the fire," the Chinese president added.

"A review of history shows that conflicts in the end have to be settled through dialogue and negotiation. China released a document on its position on the Ukraine crisis, advocating the political settlement of the crisis and rejecting the Cold War mentality and unilateral sanctions," the statement read.

In February, China released a 12-point document titled "China' Position on the Political Settlement of the Ukraine Crisis," promoting, among other things, respect of the sovereignty of all countries, the cessation of hostilities and the resumption of peace talks between Moscow and Kiev.

When you listen to a narcissist talk, they tell you more about themselves.

The West had admitted that the Minsk agreement was only a ploy to buy Ukraine time to train and equip it's armed forces for subsequent offensive ops/Neo-Nazi ops.
So I understand the hysteria and paranoia of the West. It's rooted in it's own lack of genuine civilization, deceit, deception and dishonesty.
The West is basically scared of it's own shadow.

Whatever the case may be, the only realible mediator/guarantor is China(based on it's reputation/records in diplomacy...the Saudi-Iran deal was a miracle).

A German political activist urged the United States and its Western allies to pay heed to rapid changes underway in the international arena following Chinese leader Xi Jinping’s Moscow visit.

In an interview with TASS on Wednesday, Helga Zepp-LaRouche, the founder of the US-based Schiller Institute, said that China’s peace proposal "is not only endorsed by Russia, but is supported by the entire Global South." "The initial reaction of [US] President [Joe] Biden was to reject it, as did some other leaders of the EU. But it is now becoming clear to the whole world who is trying to establish peace, and who is trying to prolong and escalate the war," Zepp-LaRouche emphasized, when asked whether the Chinese leader’s visit to Russia could usher in peace in Ukraine.

According to her, Western establishments "are still completely underestimating the reality that there is a powerful renaissance of the non-aligned spirit occurring right now." "The countries of the Global South are determined to end colonialism for good in its new cloth, and they do not want to be drawn into a geopolitical conflict between the US and Russia, or between the US and China, with whom many of them have very beneficial economic ties," she underscored.

Zepp-LaRouche praised as spectacular China’s diplomatic success "in getting Saudi Arabia and Iran to return to diplomacy and cooperation," and said that Beijing had proven that "it can be a surprising peacemaker." "So, the US and the entire West have to consider this rapidly changing international environment, and that it may be better to cooperate with it, rather than to lose more and more influence by opposing this peace plan," she noted.

In February, the Chinese Foreign Ministry published a position paper on a political settlement of the crisis in Ukraine. The twelve-point document includes calls for a ceasefire, respect for the legitimate interests of all countries in the field of security, settlement of the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine, the exchange of prisoners of war between Moscow and Kiev, as well as the cancellation of unilateral sanctions imposed without a corresponding decision of the UN Security Council.

In the published document, China described dialogue and negotiations as the sole way of resolving the crisis in Ukraine and called on all parties to support Moscow and Kiev in "moving toward each other", urging a resumption of direct dialogue as soon as possible. The world community should create conditions and provide a platform for the resumption of talks, the document emphasized.

Following talks with Xi on Tuesday, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that many provisions of China’s peace plan on Ukraine could be used as a basis for the conflict settlement whenever the West and Kiev were ready for that. At the same time, he pointed out that so far, "no such readiness" could be seen.

A flower-laying ceremony was held on Friday in Serbia’s capital of Belgrade to commemorate the 24th anniversary of NATO’s aggression against Yugoslavia.

The ceremony was led by Minister of Labor, Employment, Veteran and Social Affairs Nikola Selakovic, and was attended by Russian Ambassador Alexander Botsan-Kharchenko, Belarusian Ambassador Valery Brilev, President of the Union of War Veterans of the National Liberation Wars of Serbia (SUBNOR) Vidosav Kovacevic, as well as public figures and numerous ordinary citizens.

The commemoration took place in Belgrade’s Tasmajdan Park, where a monument depicting a child with wings and engraved with the inscription "We were just children" has been erected. The monument portrays Milica Rakic, a three-year-old girl who was killed by shrapnel on April 17, 1999, in the bathroom of her home in a suburb of Belgrade, which was located far from any military facilities. According to the Serbian government, Milica was among the 87 children who were killed in the NATO bombings.

Friday marks the 24th anniversary of NATO’s aggression against Yugoslavia, which was unleashed on March 24, 1999, and lasted for 78 days. The alliance’s leadership argued that the main rationale for the operation, codenamed Allied Force, was to prevent the genocide of Kosovo’s ethnic Albanian population. According to NATO sources, its aircraft flew 38,000 sorties and carried out 10,000 bombing strikes.

The bombardments killed, according to Serbian estimates, 3,500-4,000 people, and left about 10,000 others (two-thirds of them civilians) injured. Material damages totaled up to $100 billion. During the three months of the bombing campaign, NATO forces dropped 15 tons of depleted uranium in bombs and shells on Serbia. Subsequently, the Balkan country’s cancer rates surged to first place in Europe. In the first ten years following the bombardments, about 30,000 people developed cancer, of which an estimated 10,000-18,000 died.

Considering your background, I was bothered by your conclusion.
I strongly disagree with that perspective.
Russia, China, India and Saudi Arabia are vital/paramount countries in that region and are all aligned towards the same goal while on the contrary, the West is unable to curtail the division within it's ranks.
The fact that the West was able to install (and nurture) a Nazi regime in Kiev and set these Nazis against the Russian people is actually a success for the world because the reaction of the West to the conflict they created is the number one propellant that midwifed the multipolar world we now live in. The West hasn't seen anything yet.

Russia is willing to accept China's peace proposal but the West is divided. The action of the West doesn't bode well for the thousands of Ukrainians that are slaughtered and sacrificed on the altar of Western imperialism.
