United States Vice President Kamala Harris speaks on arrival in Ghana, March 26, 2023

US Vice President Kamala Harris arrived in Ghana on Sunday as part of her weeklong tour to Africa aimed at deepening US ties.

The US Secret Service ensured individuals entering the Jubilee Lounge were properly screened ahead of her arrival, which has generated mixed reactions on social media.
Harris is expected to deliver a speech in Accra, visit Cape Coast Castle, and meet with leaders of Ghana, Tanzania, and Zambia to discuss issues such as food security, climate change, and investment.
As the US Vice President Kamala Harris embarks on her weeklong tour of Africa, a video surfaced on social media showing the US Secret Service taking over security screening at Jubilee Lounge in Kotoka International Airport, Accra, Ghana.

According to reports, the Secret Service ensured that individuals entering the lounge were properly screened ahead of the arrival of the Vice President. While some Ghanaians expressed concern over the Secret Service's involvement in security screening, others praised their efficiency.

Markets Kamala Harris’s visit to Africa is intended to engender some economic growth on the continent.

One Twitter user, @cyril_klevs, expressed his scepticism, "They have taken over the airport and are screening our security men who are supposed to do the screening... I wonder if we will do the same if we get to their country."

Another Twitter user, who goes by the handle @SteveFr69314074, was critical of the Ghanaian president, "Akuffo Addo is a sellout president. A total disgrace to Ghana. Our sovereignty has been sold by Akuffo Addo."

The video has sparked a debate on social media, with some users condemning what they see as neocolonialism and others applauding the use of intelligence and technology.

Despite the controversy, Harris arrived to cheers in the Ghanaian capital on Sunday, her first stop on her African tour. The Vice President was welcomed at the airport by schoolchildren waving Ghanaian and American flags.

In her speech, Harris expressed her excitement about the future of Africa and discussed issues such as increasing food security, climate change, and growing investment on the continent. She is also due to visit Cape Coast Castle, where enslaved Africans were once loaded onto ships bound for America.

The Vice President's tour of Africa comes as the US seeks to repair ties with the continent after relations deteriorated under the previous administration. The US unveiled an African strategy in August last year, with an eye on bolstering democracy on the continent. Harris' visit is seen as a move to counter China and Russia's expanding influence in Africa.

Respect is earned not given. Those ones shouting China. Which African country can stand toe to toe with China in any relevant sphere of human achievement.
If u don't want American security taking over your airport, don't invite their president. Simple.
Then work hard and develop your continent so they will be forced to come and visit at your own terms and conditions because they got no choice.

This one na see finish na. Africa has been the subject of ridicule across other continent since the 19th century, and it's not gonna change till d next 100 years.

How many US leaders go to africa for medical treatment? European leaders don't even go to US for treatment, same as no US president has ever traveled to Europe for treatment. That's why there's mutual respect for both continents.

We shall continue to witness this such of treatment until our leaders wake us to their responsibility.

But I don't understand why these top American leaders usually omit Nigeria when they visit Africa. I remember Barak Obama visiting Ghana, Kenya, South Africa and one other country and didn't mind saying Hello to Nigeria the most important African nation. Something is definitely wrong
Re: Reactions As US Secret Service Screens People,as US Vice President Visits Ghana by ScamHunter: 12:05pm On Mar 28, 2023
You Africans don't get it. You lost your sovereignty the day the colonialists made you a country and you agreed. China was not made by Europeans the way you Africans were. So they'll never have respect for African countries. Not just them but Arabs and the rest of the world.

How can you earn respect when you continue living in self denial. How could one be so proud to maintain a name given by two lovers, insulting the values of indigenous nations.
Nigeria( Royal Niger Company) is seen as the eye of Africa, so the consequence of the amalgamated mistake should be felt in other African countries . Why shouldn't a sane person Imagine an indeginous nation of the whole of south west and neighbouring Benin republic as one country?

As e don be like this now. Should we continue to use the demarcation as an excuse for not moving forward as a countries in Africa ?

That's the normal procedure for American president and vice, anywhere they are visiting in the world, Google video of America president visit to country like UK, their sss personals do normally take over the whole airport for day's until the president come and go, everything shouldn't be seen from master slave prism.

That is the problem. You don't move forward without addressing issues. Moving forward in your context means, you should be ready to go round the cycle of delusion.

The situation of Nigeria can be likened to a man who wills his biggest estate to his son before his death and names it after him.
His son grows to discover his mum renames the estate and biquitted to her lovers son.

So her mum says, son please I have given you oil wells which worth more than that estate you are making noise about.

#It's all about holding on to values, as holding on to the oil well is still an uncertainty.

Oga all this are excuses we, no ignoramus Nigerians tell themselves to support the reason why Nigeria is going backwards.. some of the things you have said are true but is that the major reason why it is this bad ?, No

Rwanda fought one of the deadliest civil war in the world yet, today they have healed and are thriving with less human capital and natural resource than Nigeria.

Indonesia is one of the worlds most diverse countries in the world by culture and by geography they are a group of separate island yet it is thriving.

Black man get reasoning problem. e no get as you wan convince me, we simply cannot see beyond our noses.
Petty sentiments still plays a huge role in decision making, no matter the gravity of that decision. with this mindset we can never move forward no be juju.

We must forge a national spirit. For our sake and the sake of children unborn if not we go no where

Even in Africa some countries do not play the system of politics we are still playing in Nigeria at this age and time

You need to do your research more. There's nothing like healing where there's no justice. The Rwanda you are talking about don't run away from their history. They have a national commemoration for slain victims during the war. Can that be said about Nigeria?
You can't move on without addressing core issues underlying the fall out in the first place.
Show me where the so called 3R have been implemented to start with, if you are talking about healing.. grin ; but this not even my headache.
My concern is how indigenous nations in Africa allowed foreigners to rename their 'existence'
