Hello all...I have a 2007 Toyota Corolla that happens to be like the 6th car I have driven. It has served me very well and I wish to have an upgrade. My budget constraint however is from #4m to 4.5m. I travel a lot and hence would need something very reliable. Kindly advise me on the best choice with reasons please.

Toyota matrix and the RAV are not really "upgrades" in my opinion. If you really want to upgrade, get a Lexus. The es 330 (if you don't mind the shark like shape) will serve you better.

Traveling a lot means you'll encounter bad roads all the time. That's where RAV4 has an advantage.

The 2010 matrix is very reliable, it shares its powertrain with the 2010 corolla. You can even get the XRS variant if you want more power.
The rav4 is pretty good too but I PERSONALLY don't like the i4 engine variant (known oil consumption issue). The v6 to me is better.

The Matrix shares thesame reliability with your Corolla, same engine and gearbox, but a more stylish exterior and practical interior. Its more or less a wagon and seats fold to carry more load.

The 2008 Rav4 is not as reliable, there are complaints with the 4 cylinder burning oil while the V6 has transmission issues. I have had friends with bad experiences but from 2010, Rav4 has a new engine and more reliable.

For rest of mind go with the Matrix or Rav4 from 2010.

I prefer you stick with your Corolla. But if you want an SUV upgrade go for Lexus 330 or Toyota Hilander 2007

an engine is calculated by cylinder power which is majorly in litres not necessarily the number of pisten. Most modern cars has nothing less that 2.4 to 2.6l for 4 cylinder except for more fuel economy cars that has less than 1.6 to 2.2l. it also has it price as a small engine and their engine and AC packup really fast as compared to bigger engine.

Most V6 comes in 3l engine. They have better power which doesn't stress engine and a better AC power and function.

If you reraly use the car you want feel it.

Powering AC on small gen you know how it drags. That how it is when the small engine get high mileage.
