Paracetamol is an analgesic and an antipyretic medication. It work by altering the response of heat regulating centre in the hypothalamus thereby raising pain threshold. Paracetamol is usually prescribed for headache, muscle pain, toothache e.t.c When paracetamol is used concomitantly with certain drugs it may lead to liver toxicity/poisoning. Side effects like skin rash, bronchospasm, liver damage, thrombocytopenia, leucopenia, agranulocytosis and pancytopenia may occur. Prolonged use of paracetamol is usually associated with liver damage. People with renal impairment and glucose-6-phospate dehydrogenase deficiency are not expected to take paracetamol as it may worsen their condition....
